I believe Andy (Booztd3) started having issues with them around 600 whp. If memory serves, he damaged a 2-3 synchronizer. Everything is internally identical to a Z32 NA trans. He did a nice writeup on this too.
Andy broke the 3rd gear shifter fork in the trans.

He also busted his half shaft right at the spline fillet before the hub I do believe. Might be reversed on the diff side... I cant remember exactly.

Shifter fork issue can be resolved by shifting slower...(its no fun I know)

Well my transmission feels solid for now. But doesn't mean it will survive the fight. Especially with my luck!!

But I have yet to try out the Gizzmo between shifts. Its suppose to keep the boost built up. But so far I haven't had any luck getting out of first gear.

LOL thats true. But sad part is I broke a set of axles and 1 U-joint b/f I bought the Gizzmo!!

I think its known better as the Rb-Driveline-Killa!!

Hopefully I can get some Video's of some track passes up this year. If I quit breaking parts.

My brother calls me the burnout King b/c thats all I ever get to do at the track LOL

that's you answer right there. burn out + violent launch = breaking axles

if your 240 axles are not holding up, try out the q45 axle setup.

Are the q45 axles the same bolt pattern and splines?

You need to whole rear end, and shafts. Swap rear covers, re-drill the diff flange to the DS and your good to go.

hmm oh yeah..not sure if the Hubs are going to work, I've got r33 hubs so I don't need to worry about splines...

Ya, Its like a No win situation. Plus it looks like the q45 rear end is a 3.64 gear. My 4.08 gears seem to be perfect for my local track setup. So I would like to keep the same gearing. I would prob loose 3 tenths by going with the higher gear ratio.

Ill just break down and buy a good set of axles when I get the cash. I still have a few bugs to workout right now.

Now look at the Housing!! This thing is all twisted!! I can officially say. This Shaft is garbage!! It took a hell of a beating.

you will need to use the q45's hubs, just like you're doing a z32 or s14 5-lug conversion on the rear. hey if you want to play hard and breakless, convert to the q45 rear-end because the axles are bigger and stronger. but then if your driveshaft is the part taht breaks, upgrade it to a stronger one.

what you need: 1) q45 rear end2) both q45 hubs3) one q45 axle4) one z32 TT axle

search under my name, i posted a how-to about this conversion.

Thanks for the tip!! Ill look into it further down the road when I have the money to play with it.

Were is the best place to buy all that? I have a few local junk yards around but I don't recall seeing any q45's in it.
