My check engine light came on this morning. I ran the diagnostics on my bullydog and got the code P0101 for the MAF sensor.

Last night I noticed a weird windy sound when accelerating, almost like I had a window slightly cracked, except it sounds like it's coming from under the hood? And then when I started the car this morning the light came on. Also, I noticed the wind sound doesn't start till I've driven the car for a few minutes. It also only does it when under load, if I put the car in neutral and rev it up, no windy sound.

As far as I can tell the car runs perfectly fine (besides the noise). I've only had time so far to check my air filter which was clean (as was the box). I've yet to check my exhaust (apparently it can be smokey?) or notice a dip in gas mileage (I've only driven the car about 5 miles since this started).

I haven't done anything on the intake side of things, however I do the RL y-pipe and Borla exhaust. Anybody have any thoughts on this one? I've been searching and haven't found anyone reporting anything similar (the noise). Perhaps the noise is unrelated and just a coincidence/entirely different problem?

Naturally I would love to avoid the dealership, so thanks in advance for any feedback!

Nissan will charge 400 to reprogram. It appears someone fixed it by buying a new sensor. I used a process someone had on here to clear the light. I did it a few weeks ago and the light hasn't come back yet. I have K&N intake, RL y-pipe, and Borla exhaust. I'm guessing because I never had it tuned, I am having the MAF issue. Links below should help you out.

I had the code on my car too and I have a K&N filter so I tried cleaning the MAF several times to see if there might of been oil on it and it didn't work. So I ended up taking it in to the dealership because there was a TSB (technical service bulletin) for it. It was free and all they do is reprogram the computer.

Thanks for the info! I saw that TSB, but I've also seen people saying they brought theirs in only to have the light come back on?

I haven't brought mine in yet because there doesn't seem to be any issues with the car (gas mileage is fine, exhaust is fine, noise seems to be gone, etc) and it would be a major inconvenience because I work 7 days a week till summer hits.

I have a bullydog and can turn the light off/erase the code, but it comes back on after a few weeks. Please, let me know if yours comes back on. Thanks!
