All,I am looking to purchase an r32 gtr or gts-t in about a months time, but as so many cars are illegal its tough to gauge what I should expect to pay. I am not going to import a car or purchase one that can't be registered so I am looking at used (well, technically for the second time used) motorex cars.

So, what is the value of a fully paperworked gtr and the same for a a gts-t?

It seems from my research that the R will be at least 35K. I am looking to spend not much more than that if possible but will certainly not pass on looking at cars up to 50K. Does this sound right? If so, how much less the is the gts-t?

Hey...I might know a guy that has one for sale. It's an unregisterd car in San Fransisco. I know the guy personally as he is attending college here in Japan and wants to sell it.

He only uses the car for drift events, so he didn't need to get it registered. Had it imported as show/track car.

I'll get back to you in a few days, I should talk to him tonight or tomorrow, Japan time of course.

If its unregistered or hasn't been modified/converted I am not interested. If he can do that I will certainly be interested.

Even so, I am still curious what he is asking for it.

Pretty much you are only going to be able to get a state legal car. Meaning the only state that wont transfer the title is CA,but if you don’t live in CA who the F&CK cares then. but even on the state legal cars before they get titled they have to be inspected by a DMV official who only deals with cars from overseas. And this is what the DOT says about that.

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/...63420

6. Motor Vehicle Titling and RegistrationNHTSA is not responsible for regulating the operation of motor vehicles on public roads in the U.S. or for titling or registering motor vehicles for such operation. That is instead the responsibility of the individual States. Some States may require a manufacturer's certificate of origin (MCO) or manufacturer's statement of origin (MSO) to register a new motor vehicle. These are not federally required documents. NHTSA, therefore, is not in a position to offer guidance to prospective vehicle manufacturers or vehicle purchasers on obtaining a needed MCO or MSO. Consumers with questions regarding these documents should direct those questions to their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Prospective manufacturers seeking guidance on obtaining MCO or MSO documents should contact the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) at 703-522-4201 or visit that organization's website at http://www.aamva.org.

Yes, I expected as much. I live in Va so hopefully that shouldn't be too much of a problem. As long as I am not getting pulled over and getting my car taken away.

Anyone else selling a gtr? Still looking.

As soon as you get it from port let me know I'd like to give you a call. Do you know when it will be released from customs? I'd like to get moving on this soon.
