So I got my car about a week ago, threw up an intro thread about it.

got-me-a-ka-t-t510750.html

After finding a missing stud on the exhaust mani, and hearing a small tick go to a big one the car was too awful to drive.

Im now trying to get the exhaust manifold all the way off and I cant seem to slide it all the way off without having to take the dump pipe and downpipe off. Is this the only way? I ask because I really don't want to have to go through the hassle of getting all new gaskets for those as they are a bit hard to find.

Heres sone picktures of what im dealing with

Ill Take some more pictures tomorrow of how far I am, but currently frustrated to no end already. A never ending exhaust leak was the reason I sold my CA18 last year.

I've never been able to pull a manifold off with the exhaust connected. Just one of those things you have to do, I suggest soaking all the hardware in WD40 the night before you're going to do the removal. Makes life way easier.

Ended up getting it off just enough to slide one gasket into the one that was bad.

I also figured out that the first bolt hole is not missing a stud, but yet has the stud broken off inside the block. So im going to have to try to easy out it. Gotta take the motor out to do that though. Not trippin too much as I want to redo all me seals cause the car is leaking from somewhere. So ill probably end up doing that next week.

Oh, believe me I sure will. Last time we pulled an engine to swap trannys and some other things on the engine It took less then a day to take it all out fix it and put it back in.

Im hoping for like two days max. I have a competition on the 24th, and I wouldn't be able to pass tech inspection with leaky s***, so thats the top priority on my list. That and getting rid of the tractor noise coming from my headers.

So Ive spent the last few days spent between pulling my motor, cleaning it up and doing seals.

Along with working 8 hours every day. Ill sleep eventually. Anyway heres some pictures of my progress.

Flywheel/ clutch. Its looking like I need a new clutch soon. But since I dont have 300 for another stage 4, im going to just pull the transmission when it starts slipping. Figure I got at least a month.

I found the exhaust leak.

I also tried swapping my friends welded with my 2 way but It didnt work. the output shafts from his car seemed to not fit in the 2 way carrier. I have some 6 bolt that are evenly spaced with big axles, not the paired 6 bolt ones that are stock. Ill have to figure out how that works later. Either way it was 8 hours of wasted work on the diffs.

But Im trying to finish it in the next two days I jsut need a metal gasket to put in and no one around here has one. I could order it offline but that takes forever to ship and I dont have that long.

I think it's the eBay "F1 Racing" flywheel.
