so i was trying to remember that thread while i read thru this one.and the last time i read anything on it....things were getting nasty over a "miata"....so i'm guessing that things went much further than that. i remember reading a few the posts and somewhat agreeing with things said however in a very rude way. yeah i think things got out of hand but yes it was a good thread....til it got hijacked. but i can understand that the mods don't have time to read thru all that stuff and edit out perticulaur posts. hell i don't know how they have the time to do as much as they do.

it is a shame however that it was deleted but the blame shouldn't be put on the mods.

No... I didn't come to you because I was offended by a conversation. I posted my opinion (popular or not) for all to see, and challenged the logic behind the decision. No whining here Fred. So I guess it is whining every time someone expresses a difference of opinion... ok whatever. Those who came out and said that they were the ones who asked for it to be deleted... good for them. Once they realized that they had a few others on their side, they suddenly got the sack to stand up and say so! Maybe if more people had that kind of courage from the get go, they would have said something in that thread to shut down the ignorant folks making the comments.

Once agan Fred, I'm not making this a personal thing. I have a fairly light-hearted, devil's advocate stand point here. I have not mentioned any names because that's not the point. I respect the fact that you are a mod, and you have a lot on your shoulders. I tried to make a point, and that is all.

I am a bit late on noticing the thread was deleted because I don't check NICO much on weekends. Unlike freddy, I don't have the misfortune of posting something that leaves people scratching there heads wondering if I meant what I said or was it sarcasm.

For the record...For those of you who are curious...I tried to have a punk mod move this thread to the Ring but nobody responded. I put up a thread in the Ring myself to divert the post but that didn't work and it got deleted (the whole thread, all of which didn't deal with the issue that offended some). For the sake of clarity...s14 got into a debate with one Team503 and one MarkEmark. I was along for the ride because where there is contention you will find me. Where there is injustice I'll be there:rolleyez Anyway one thing lead to another and one member stated that he was homosexual, he caught s*** about it and started defending his "orientation" while others condemned it. That is the condensed version. Maineimport and myself were trying to restore light and dignity while the others were waving shrouds of darkness. NICO should send us medals for protecting the youth instead of lurking in the night putting duct tape on the mouths of reason and sanity. It was said that if a thread got off topic or out of hand that it would be sent to the Ring but that too was BS. For the record, in or out of the Ring, if someone shares and tries to persuade others to accept or participate in destructive behavior (drugs, abuse of alcohol, homosexuality...there are young teens here) delete it before I see it. If not then expect me to rebuke the individual quite strongly and offer a fiery prose equivalent to a swift kick in the teeth. I have said my piece but dammit I ain't finished!!

agreed dees.sounds like you'll be the fire under our pants that keeps us on our toes. it would have most likely been gone a lot sooner but this section was moderator less for a few. the big poster mod has been down so the ugly came out from the shadows. lets just be glad he's back.

So very true.....and i remember Dee saying in his ever-so-elegant(sp?) way.....exactly that. And the thread got out of control in the first place because of that individual's want to display it's sexuality to everyone in a place it doesn't belong.

While I may not ENTIRELY agree with your opinions, I totally respect you for expressing them. It takes a lot to stand behind an unpopular opinion with convction. Some do it with ignorance, but we know that's not your case!!!

it's not really about that......it's about this is a forum based on cars. and the subject got way off of cars.it's a shame it was deleted but i support the mods for doing it because....it was hijacked. just like masterman said ....LOL
