I hate to sound like a d!ck , but safety is a big concern with cops. Now it did seem wrong for the car to be impounded, but when i know something on my car fails i go right out and fix it.

really? ive met a few cops that try there hardest to screw people over. They just look for any little reason to beat your ***.
i've met one cop like that. i got pulled over because teh inspection was out, but i had proof that i had taken it for inspection but it failed and proof that i was fixing the things that were wrong, but i didnt have money for the last thing it needed (wheel bearing). the cop told me that because it was a nicer car (clean 99 integra) that was modified (all it had was a catback and aftermarket wheels, but the wheels were just thrown on for the good tire tread since the stocks were worn) that he didn't believe i didn't have money for the last repair. just cuz i had money at one time (the exhaust was put on 2 years ago and the wheels were free) doesn't mean i'm lieing about being broke now

Damn man that sucks, sorry to hear that. Good thing we don't need a third brake light here in Texas.

you must have had this problem before for this to happen. if there were drugs in the car, he would have been ticketed for the drugs mostly &a fix it for the light. DWI, and they find drugs then your car gets impounded. I have been ticketed for my third brake light being out in the past (bs story, dont ask). a $3 fix just cost you almost the worth of your car (towing fees, storage, court fees, fines, and inspection fees). Im wondering if a 3rd brake light delete will negate this problem, as they will never know it was there.

PS: your car is 20 yrs old, you should check the lights at least once a month. also did the cop say anything about your headlights?

This type of crap really pisses me off! I've had so many problems with cops that I could say I hate them. There's a lot of racial crap out here. I don't know about California but in Chicago the cops will tear you a new a**hole for the dumbest things ever.

If the cops inpounded my car for a freaken brake light, the gates of hell would unleash on the little f***.

hahaha.

Op was owned.

California cops are bad, but not THAT bad.

They just can't tow a car for a reason as small as a brake light.

A brake light that is out is a fix-it-ticket.

OP had something MUCH worse than he is mentioning.

Not only that, but he's stupid for thinking everyone on this forum is dumb enough to believe it.

But who cars.

Your car looked like a pile of shyt minus the kouki tails.

The cop isn't a, "dik". He's a hero for saving you from that piece.

All you other people getting angry at the police are failing HARD.

You can't side with someone who is only feeding you the information that you want to hear.

There are always two sides to a story.

I mean come on.

At first the op said, "My car was impounded for not having a 3rd brake light".

Then it went to, "My car was impounded for not having a third brake light AND I didn't have my license on me".

Next thing you know, "My car was impounded for no 3rd brake light, no license on me. Matter of fact, I had my license suspended because of a reckless driving problem I have".

It is a LOT deeper than he's making it sound.

Don't side with this failure.

Cops can do wrong.

But in this case I horrible doubt it.

No License with you and The Test pipe, so far the two most likely reasons your car was impounded - California cops do not like test pipes but there still may be a little more to the story, why was you car impounded before ?

Wow, I love the bashing of the cops, not. I had trouble with the body harness in my 240 and the parking lights went out randomly (ended up just being a bare wire) but I got pulled over for it 4 times in a week and every cop, both state and municiple, let me off with fix it tickets, and were polite as can be. Ive never had a run in with a police officer that was a bad expereince, I may have gotten what I deserved but they all were polite to me because I was respectful to them, get off the cops balls, you wouldnt be saying that kind of **** about them if your 240 was stolen, would ya?

i totally agree with you and do not advocate cop bashing, but with the particular incident i mentioned the cop was a total d!ck and i've had experiences like that more then once. that's not to say i've never had nice cops to deal with as well, but i personally have never been less then perfectly polite. some just want any reason to give you a hard time

Everyone has cop stories.

I have hours worth.

But in the OP's case, he deserved the action that was taken by the PD.
