i was wondering how much of a power and response difference i could expect between these two turbos. also was HP level could i achieve with the T3/T4 (i know the S15 T28 tops out around 310)

also wondering what i should expect to pay for an S15 T28bb turbo.

also does anyone on here have any experiece with the Garret GT series turbos? specificly the GT30

Which T3/4?, What specs?

Does anyone know where I can find compressor maps for stock nissan turbos? This information would be helpful in answering his question.

dont know of anyone that has T28 compressor maps. Turbonetics doesn't sell anything smaller than a T3 so they are no help

not bad. looks like most T3/T4 hybrids aren't too expensive if you dont want ball bearing.

looks like you can get a bb T3/T4 hybrid from turbonetics for about 1100

A properly sized t3/t4 will burn a S15 t28. The problem though, is that you'll need a custom manifold (or Enjuku). That raises the price significantly.:(

mjmturbos.com has good prices. they also sell t28/t4 hybrids. Enjuku's kit is $2800 and produced 393rwhp on a "stock" Sr motor. The kit comes with everything except engine strengthening parts and fuel delivery parts. Seems like a good deal to me. Heavy Throttle sells a Dspeed kit with the manifold and turbo, although they don't day what kind, although I would assume it's designed for tractable power b/c Dspeed is fairly drift oriented company, so its probably not all out HP, but broad powerband. HT says it's good for 525 hp. The Dspeed kit is $1800, but y9ou will still need a few other things like injectors etc. I myself would be interested to know what else you would want to get with that setup. Hard to say, since they don't describe what kind of turbo it is, except its bb. Yes, the S15 bb turbo is $8-900. and good to a little over 300hp.

wow. thats a great price on a manifold. is it cast or tubular? top mount or bottom?

it's top mount and cast i believe, it isn't the pretttiest of things, and i think i'm gonna clean it up a little with a die grinder, but it beats apying 900+ for a manifold, if it is any less efficant than a ss one i'll take my extra 800 bucks and hit the bottle :) imo it is a great deal for a t3/t4 mani

The T3/T4 is more drag, where as the T28 is more track/drift, because of its quicker spool time. In the end the T3/T4 will give you more HP, but im not going for that. So which are you going for?

my goal is more of a mixed bag. im lookin for a fast street car that i can drag race and also do the occasional autox.

looks like a GT25 or GT30 could work quite well. the GT30s i saw on JGS's site were rated for 450+hp. they didn't give a rating on the GT25. looks like the GT30 is equivilent to a T04 but with the response of a T3

those JGS guys have some damn good prices. especially on manifolds and intercoolers. heck even their prices on the GT turbos were pretty good

it's a basic log manifold...then just has a whole cut in it, where ever you want to mount the flange...then the flange is just welded onto it...its the 'same' manifold for all the cars, just a flange welded in a diff location...you can just buy the manifold and the flange, if your good with welding, and do it for under 200, lol.....

me and welders dont mix (i get little metal poprcipines when i try to weld).

i saw a pic of the manifold. its cast and looks pretty beefy and looks like they will ceramic coat it if you want

Rogue both enjukuracing.com sell gp and also heavythrottle sells gp kits.

Sorry i misread your post. But they sell it, ask Enjukuracing what they think of the kit. They always give very honest answers about there products.

http://www.jgycustoms.com/bb37.htmhow did that get there? anyhow, the t3/t04e in a stage 2 and 60 trim will make very good power. but expect boost to hit around 4000rpm or maybe just a bit earlier. the ball bearing turbos have smaller wheels, but the thrust bearings can take more abuse ( a lot more) and this gives them a higher power rating then you might exect from looks. also, usually the garrett bb turbos can be upgraded too. you can add t04s or e housing and wheel to them since most start with a t04b housing. i have an old-school k3t that boosts just before 4000rpm. but that power band is fine for my driving. i was pissed at first that i had to downshift now to beat turbo hondas, but i got over it. shaun

They also due the upgrade for the sr t25. Myself, and bud i think have emailed them, and they will due it for the same price. And if you upgrade stock t25 you dont have to modify anything. 21 psi sounds pretty nice to me, from what appears to be a stock t25. Wow, what a sleeper that would be, and full boost at 3000 rpms.

Im not saying there is anything wrong with the bbt28 it is a great turbo, i just think the upgrade t25 will be easier and suit my needs.

I do not recommend Turbonetics BB turbos. Most people I have had experiense with them have had seal problems for some reason.Their regular units are great though, never had a problem and still bout good as new after 22000miles.The GT30 is an excellent turbo form what I've seen. My buddy has a GT25R on his VW and it is pretty good, little small though for my tastes. It will spool faster then the GT30, which should not spool up much faster then a T3/T04E since your using a T04S and BB.The larger T28 and pretty much any stock replacement size turbo will not give you much more then 350 from what I've read, but I have no experience in it really with the SR so you'll really have to think hard about your application.-James
