What would be the total cost to put a s15 drivetrane in an s13 body? Including everything from rear to driveshaft and all that. thanks.

Motor should swpa no problem. The drive train if you have it all might need to be shortend not sure on the tlength of the S15s but if you have the half shafts and drive shaft and pumpkin shouldnt take much more modding. Although sometimes the Pumpkins can have clearance problems.

You have to modify the transmission mount some, and get a custom made driveshaft because the S15 shaft mounts up differently than the S13. Also, you need to get a Dakota Digital Speed signal converter. Otherwise the speedo signal is gonna be all whacked out. If you're planning on mounting just the tranny and diff up to an S14 or S13 SR then you will have to use an S13 Flywheel and clutch I believe. I've been considering doing this swap into my S13. It's alot more work and expense than it's worth unless you never want more than about 320-350hp. Otherwise, the 6-speed tranny's tend to give out past that due to thinner gears. If you want to stick with this and want more power, then get the tranny cryotreated ($$$$). For the same money you could just about have a full build on an S13 SR. Just my opinion though. Trust me, I want that 6 speed, but it doesn't seem to be worth it.

wow i never knew that about the tranny. I guess i wont be doing that. Its probably hard to finds the 6 speed tranny and diff w/ all the speed sensors and drive shaft and all that. Ide hook it up to an s-14 motor w/ the s-13 clutch and flywheel but it seems that once all is said and done i'll be around 6500-7000. Too much for me. How about s14 in an s13? I want a notch top, all my friends have regular SR black and reds.

knotchtop would be about 10X less hassle.Motor mounts are the same i know that, not sure about the driveshaft or tranny.I think they both match up.Wire harness could be sent out to wire specialties if u dont want to deal with that.

S14 motors go in no problem. if I understand correctly the biggest headache about those swaps is the wiring. And I just realized in my last post I said you have to use the S13 flywheel and clutch...I meant to say S15. MY BAD! Having a 6 speed would be super sweet, but it's just not worth the trouble unless you're only shooting for about 320hp. After that it could become iffy. May be the plan if I get an S14 though...

The S14 and S15 motors are almost identical (as in the block, head, intake, etc.). Its just that the S15 has a different: transmission, differential gear ratio, ecu, wire harness, injectors and speed sensor location.

Hey J-spec: Where does everyone get this misformation that the s15 sr20det has a 10:1 compression ratio?

Case in point: zerothread?id=157370

Everything I've found says its 8.5:1 CR It seems this should have been cleared up years ago.

Probably from the S15 (and S14) SR20DE which has a compression ratio of 10:1.

The sensor is only an issue if you're trying to retain your factory speedometer.

exactly, wiring is much easier than swapping into s14/s15 half of the harness gets tossed in the trash. and to save some headache with the transmission just run an s14 5spd and you won't have to worry about dealing with the VSS being in the diff. and the weaker 6speed gears.
