That is 100% off topic. You may be right, you may be wrong.I've been doing okay so far.

at any rate, I don't know how the cars are in CT, I imagine a lot of cars have fog lights as well as regular headlights. I don't know if the HID trend has set in over there (I haven't been back in YEARS). With that being said, I don't imagine somebody with Japanese headlights is going to be ANY more terrible for oncoming drivers than people with aftermarket HID setups/lifted trucks/high beams on all the time/etc.

I am just tired of people spreading info that is ASSUMED.

if, for example, jdm headlights produced the same effect on oncoming traffic as lifted trucks, bad hid kits (a good, well installed kit should not affect oncoming traffic), and people with high beams on at all times, how is it not a danger to that oncoming traffic. i've experienced those three setups personally, and at times i was not able to see anything at all but bright light. thank someone that i didn't miss a bend in the road and crashed into a tree, or worse, someone walking on the sidewalk. what i was initially getting at was, i don't understand the point of such an asinine modification that does nothing beyond bragging rights aside from possibly putting other people's lives in danger.

and i'm not assuming that the lights will point at oncoming cars, they will. but there will be varying degree as to how much each oncoming vehicle is affected. obviously, i wouldn't notice as much driving my truck as i would if i were driving my car.

I understand that.

However, I wasn't saying that the lights shining towards the "wrong" way was an assumption. I know that i a FACT. What IS indeed an assumption is how it will "blind" the other drivers and so on.

How come nobody bishez when s13 guys do a japanese front end? I don't understand this.

also, if we are talking about doing things to our cars that make them possibly a danger to other vehicles on the road, we might as well add some more things.

Lowering your car. perhaps dangerous.adding aftermarket parts. perhaps dangerous.putting any type of sticker on the window. perhaps dangerous.etc...

I blind people quite often with my S13 front lights. I can't count how many times I've had someone flash me thinking I have my high beams on.

i could go on and on about other modifications that are potentially dangerous on a street car, but this thread was about s14 front ends and headlights. i specifically asked about jdm s14 kouki head lights. my same qualm would apply to s15 head lights as well as s13 silvia lights. if people want them so badly, go right ahead, it's your car and your money. i was just trying to understand if there was any other reason aside from being able to brag to all your car buddies that you have jdm headlights. hell if that's all that it takes to be cool these days, i'm going to swear up and down that my car has a jdm s14 zenki front end conversion

I dont want to take sides but numbnuts240 is right.USDM lights shine lower toward on comming (left) and high on the oposite (left) inorder to see road signs.

While JDM, EDM or any DM where cars drive oposite to the US will shine higher on the left and lower on the right.

Well, let's get one thing straight here.

I'd get the Japanese lights for only ONE reason, they look cooler. End of story.

In fact, I already had a set of them when I collected everything to change my s14 to a kouki, but then sold it. doh!

rcab - I understand that. DId you manage to read everything I said, or just skim it and assume the rest?

if everyone is so worried about what direction the headlight shine on JDM kouki headlights then would it not be the same for all the people with the s13 silvia conversions, bricks or 3 projector. they all come from the same country and point the same way.

oh and there is a really cool thing that is put on the headlights... adjustment screw!

Good point

But in our case the USDM Kouki headlights looks almost exactly the same as the JDM versions...

Bricks weren't availible on the USDM S13 so I guess that justifies people blinding others.I definitly wasn't aware of "adjustment screws" (AS), and if it does allow the adjustment of biased of left to right then...I guess it doesn't matter.

Although I have never met a person who has used the AS so I guess people just need to be educated.

I am going to have to say that I am a HUGE fan of the kouki. I think the kouki makes s14's look like they belong in the 21st century. Many people don't realize that I am driving an 11 year old car. I also like zenkis if they have clear lenses, and I love the ones with clears and projector lenses. More than likely whatever you have you will learn to love. Because I have had everything except the s15 front, and I loved them all.

alos, i have seen the larger JDM lights with xenon, they can be adjusted just as easily as the USDM lights. I have xenon on the car right now and people flash at me every now and then, but its only bright for a split second and my beams are angled to the right and my driver lens is a little lower. I have them because I would rather be able to see, because the halogens were too dim and in my area I'd say 60+% of people are using xenon. the ones that really cause the problems are the one's with self levelers. Our cars are typically lower than most so if anyone is going to have the problem it wont be the other person it will be one of us.

i hate to be a d!ck but the projectors are the same size... just the space around them is bigger on the jdm ones.

So......

You guys do know that you can actually re-adjust the headlights to US specifications with the turn of a bolt, right?

I mean, you're all so smart obviously, so I'd assume you would know.

On JDM Brick and most of all Projector lights. its not just a turn of a bolt that changes the direction of the light in a way that you will still maintain great visibility and keep from shining in on coming drivers eyes.

Yes you can aim it down down down making ur field of vision less and less but you can not adjust balance of the horizontal line to be more USDMish on JDM projectors and most of all Full halogen headlight set ups ( such as bricks ).

If i am wrong please get me pictures.( and i am not trying to be a smart ***, if you get me pictures of where i can make my JDM bricks shine like USDM u are a Moon Master! )

keep it clean and stick to the zenki front. you have options to play with to make it look "different". you just need a front lip, side skirts, and rear to give it a different look. Vtund.com lip with kouki side skirts are my fav combo.
