I got the old rack out a while back (just removed the line with the rack) and installed the aftermarket line with the new rack. I also installed the JIC Magics, which I noticed are missing lock nuts on the front. After trying to find the right size lock nuts, I believe I'll have to have them custom machined. For now though, I'm running a little preload and no lock on the spring perches (height adjustment is locked). I went to install the rears and I discovered that the person who installed the set of coil overs that I'm taking out stripped out the threads in the coil over mount in one of the knuckles. I'm going to drill out the coil over mount and run a bolt through it (instead of replacing the whole knuckle).
Then I didn't do anything on it for a while due to lack of funds and two other daily driver cars that take priority in the maintenance budget and my time. That is why my 98 impreza has a new transmission mount and working headlights and my 99 odyssey has two much needed tires and a coolant flush.
I had my electrical tools out this past weekend to do some soldering and discovered I had little butt connectors, so I decided to finish up the CPS sub harness that I purchased all the nissan connectors to make. Working from the FSM I connected the two negative wires on the main harness side to the one negative wire on the connector side and the positive to positive using non-insulated butt connectors (made from cheap insulated ones that came in some cheap kit that I stripped down), solder, and heat shrink. I wrapped the whole harness tightly in electrical tape to help keep it weather resistant and insulated.
I installed the CPS, the new harness that I made and the 1996 manual ECU that I bought used off of ebay (I've had the ecu and cps for a while). I started it up and lo and behold for the first time since I've owned the car no CEL. So either the CEL burned out, or all my efforts have not been in vain. I'm guessing it will pass smog, but since drifting season is almost over, and I can't afford to insure, register or smog this thing right now it will remain non-oped. Hopefully I will find the funds to fix the front end damage before next season starts.
