im a highschool student i gave a 98 nissan s-14 automatic. i really wanna get it swapped to manual. in bein a student im low on cash and im prob gonna strip out a 240 manual at a junk yard for the manual parts cause its cheaper. but for installation thats where im stuck. if i do it myself thatd be crazy. how much would installation be if i did choose to find someone or try to do it myself which would be taking a big jump

they have filipinos in tennessee?!?! ay nako!

haha j/k.

umm well rough estimate..i had a local guy around here offer to do it for $500 if you supplied all the parts. so thats a good rough estimate i suppose. parts..probably at most you'd spend $500. Varies of course from place to place. Assume you'll drop a G on this since you're not doing any of it yourself. i don't think you'll spend any more than that. i do recommend however changing the clutch, flywheel, pilot/ throw-out bearings whenever you're swapping in a transmission you have no idea how it was treated.

search the FAQ's and what not for the parts. i dont want to list the stuff and miss something. it's not impossible. if you have time and another car to use while this is out of commission. it could be a reallie good learning experience if you ask to see how everything's done. like watch the mechanic or local guy to observe while hes doing it. also to make sure hes not screwing you over

anyways good luck pare!!

Here is a great write up and it has a pretty complete list of parts.

How are emissions in Tennessee? The 96-98 s14's are obdII and can create quite the headache if not swapped properly with compatible parts.

You would have a much better idea off the job size if you compared notes with someone who has done it before. The worst part for me was the damn clutchpedal. The rest was ok. Do you have a proper garage, swapping the driveshaft is not so much fun witout a proper lift. It can be done though.

Also consider if you are going to jack out the entire engine. That is what I did. I believe it is better.
