I'm just wondering what exhaust is best for an '91 S13. My friend's own civics, preludes, integras, and soon one of them will own a "Supra 7" (Rx-7 with Supra engine). Anyways, most of them recommend the Tanabe Exhaust system, and I was wondering what everyone recommends for S13s. And I found out Tanabe doesn't make exhaust for S13s, only for the years 95-99... That sucks...

Is there a webpage that shows the specs and performance about BLitz, HKs and others? I mean like dyno tests and rated performances against each other, and the how much Hp they add to your car. I've seen it in magazines like Turbo magazine and stuff, and I was just wondering if anyone knew.

well this is the SR forum...if you dont have a turbo car, then what we will recommend will not help you...you;ll be better off posting this in the KA forum or general...

you'll want a 3" exhaust (if you have a turbo setup)...3" with the least bends as possible...after that its just the quality and finish of the steal that makes the difference...

Apexi N1 is the most popular.....

http://www.hksusa.com will have hks info

http://www.apexi.com will have apexi info, etc etc etc....

I've never actually heard the HKS Ti on a 240SX but a single turbo supra with that exhaust is the best sounding car I've ever heard. I guess I'll just have to wait till I start my project unless someone has a sound clip of it on a SR powered 240SX :(

I H8 - Has your friend had any problems with his Level 10 transmission? I've heard nothing but bad things about them.

there's your problem...he doesn't race with it. I'm sure once he takes it to the track a few times it will blow up

Thanks for the info, but you recommend buying the exhaust now, then buying the motor, cuz I can the buy the exhaust now then get the motor later during the year.

Kinda of topic, but does anyone know where I can get an SR in california? I'm gonna have the money by February and I don't know exactly where to look, since it is illegal here in california, i think.

Yeah you've got some MAJOR MAJOR (did i mention MAJOR) research to do then if you are searching for info about SR's in Cali because yes they are very illegal, wont pass smog/visual check without a bribe and can be attained from more places in Cali than the rest of the country.

These places in California come to mind:http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com http://www.cartunemotorsports.comhttp:/ ... motors.com http://www.sr20store.com/http://www.pha ... pment.com/ (not quite sure of this one)

As well as the TONS of car shops down there that can get them and install them for you.

I believe they meant 4" piping not 4" tip (well it prob is 4" but they meant piping i think).

The piping for the HKS Ti is 4" and the tip is 4.5". I seriously wouldn't recommend this exhaust unless you are planning on making major power. There is no need for piping that large if you plan on only making ~300RWHP. Any of the other mentioned exhausts will be fine for most applications.

hey BuudWeizErr thanks for the info about phase2. I pratically live like 15-20 minutes from there, and I go there to watch the races sometimes.

So, in general do you guys recommend buying exhaust system i.e. Apex N1 over the HKS (cuz probably won't push more than 325 rwhp) until later?

I suppose you could think of getting the N1 first if you want to get another exhaust later. If your goal is to get 325 RWHP and you actually think you'll get that much then just pick up a ApexI GT Spec or another exhaust with >3 in piping.

Wouldnt be cheaper to just get the muffler.... liek say the apexi N1.... and jsut go to a shop around you and just get 3' all the way.... like... get a n1 muffler with a 3'inlet... then just weld 3' pipeing to it.... Mandrel bent...( less bents...)...im thinkn about doin that... cause these cat back systems are TOO damn pricey...

Gawd i cant type ^^^^:ylsuper

Yeah my good friend has an auto 2002 WRX Impreza, he is starting to do mods to it though. What mods will my s13 redtop sr (in an s14 chassis), need to beat a 2002 WRX with Intake and 3in Exhaust?

Thnx guys

A good/quality custom job wont save you much money, unless your doing it yourself, or have a hookup....A great custom job will cost you more than a manufactured setup, thats the same in any industry, ya know? catback systems are mass produced, and save money on manufacturing, a custom system is one of a kind, and wont save money, but what happens with most people going the 'custom' route, is they shop around for the cheapest price they can find, so they really arent getting anything the quality of the manufactured exhaust systems...

Yeppers, I got my current exhaust from a muffler shop. 2.25 inch, for $100 including labor (already had aftermarket dual muffler tip), BUT I dont believe the bends were mandrel, I think for $100 you'd only get crush.

I will probably get my SR from Heavy Throttle, Unstable Hybrids, Afterdark-Tuning, etc. It just depends on who has one in stock or who can get me one the fastest.

Anyone have experience with the Buddy Club Racing Spec Muffler Spec II or the Kakimoto GT 1.0Z series exhausts?

As long as it's 3 inch exhaust mandrel bent, that's all I need.

I already have an aftermarket muffler. And dont need all the pretty chrome that u pay for when u buy from a manufacturer. If you dont think theyre pricey, u are crazy.

Lucky not all applications of the hks ti are 4 inch piping. My friend has the hks ti on his wrx, and its 3 inch piping with 4.5 tip. Id say get n1 if your worried about price. They have a 3 inch application, with 4.5 tip
