while i was coming home from my cousin's house. I saw a purple gsr exiting down to the highway (I85) where i was at. So i slow down a bit wanting to race the guy. He drops it right behind me came up real fast past me. I drop it into third, down to forth then i start to pull up. He was about 3 cars up. He braked and put on his hazzards.. then exited off.. I exited after him down to harris blvd stoped at the light...opened my window and started talking to the guy asking what he got under the hood(aem cai/ dc headers/ apex n1 catback) I asked him to race me again since it wasnt fair the first time. we went up to where theres a long straight road, We slowed down to about 35 mph... i asked him to go first....as soon as he floored the gas i floored mines... 2nd gear i pulled up and off, third gear i pulled up more, forth gear i pulled away more... then i stoped... i had him about 3 cars back... waved, made a U turn and headed back home.

Congradulations on the win, but street racing is stupid and unsafe. :)

90ka24de,Congrats on the race, cause I know it feels good no matter what you beat. Maybe I'll see you on the roads around here. Feel free to email or AIM me if you want to chat sometime, since we are both in NC. No a couple ppl in Charlotte with some fast imports.

My friend just completed a DE swap on a '90 coupe. To me it makes the pignose look a lot better knowing that's under the hood.

GSR's are not all that. My roommate has a 01 Type R with I/H/E and he only runs 9.4's in the 1/8, so I know the GSR's are a lot slower, maybe high 9's stock.

he must not be able to drive...I had a GSR w/ intake, exhaust, FPR, MSD, Apex'i V-afc, fuel pump, rail, injectors, pulleys, and some other goodies...dynoed at 208 hp, not too shabby, I smoked just about everyone. Although he didnt nearly as much done he still should have had about 190hp with that setup, It's funny how kids add an intake and exhaust, maybe a header and they think their car is a racecar...stock I ran a 15.1 and got a best of 14.03.... I know my 240 couldnt even come close to a 15. in the 1/4 in stock form. No the GSR isnt the greatest but, they are fast, and once again it all comes down to the driver...

gsR's are fast... but then again i have never lost to any with intake header exhaust. my cousins got a 00 gsr with intake and apex n1 catback and yet he cant beat me... and also my brother in law has a 98 gsr into a 97 civic coupe with msd headers intake exhaust fuel rail, fuel regulator and yet he can't beat me...the only way he can beat me is if he uses his botte... im not saying they are slow... i've seen some run good times not only that.. i've seen 240sx run sme ****ty times also... i've never seen a 240sx ran a below 15 before unless they got some good work done to them...

so What do you have under the hood then? must be some heat...I never got the chance to race a 240 in my teggy. I mostly enjoyed raping the drivers of mustangs and camaros for every penny in thier pocket...word to the wise dont bet $$ that your car is faster, lose and then try to run, idiots just pay up! I would've had I lost :)

custom cold air intake, highflow cat, catback exhaust, if your running 14.0 then yes you will beat me but then again you got way more mods.

All gear ratios are the same for every year 240SX. Your car WILL not break into the 14s with the aforementioned mods, not without some serious weight reduction.

From what ive read the gear ratios Are the same, the transmission is the same one.. but do you have proof about the gear ratio's between ka24e transmission and a ka24de transmission? 15.1 in a basically stock 240 is almost unheard of also, was this on a 8% grade downhill track or what?

Here's the real 1/4 mile figures as provided by SCC:

Type R- 14.4GSR-15.1240sx-16.3

That's what they actually run, and gs-r's are fast.

i don't care what the SCC times are, in reality, the times i stated is more true. gsr's and type r's are not that fast.

remind you that they are FWD with about 15 more RWHP stock and they weight in the 2500 range so there not the light compared to the s13.
