Ive been looking into turbo II rx7s for awhile and i finally found one. I found an 87 Turbo II with 98k miles on it thats all original. Runs and drives great, the only thing wrong with it is the guy hit a barrel and bent the fender pretty bad. I also found a 92 240sx with an sr swap thats got a few things done to it. The usual stuff, intake, exhaust, headgasket, head studs, bov, and fmic. The only draw backs are it doesnt have matching wheels and is primered with brown interior. I was just looking for some help deciding. Ive had 6 240s and im kind of wanting to try something different, but ive never worked on a rotary. Thanks for the help!

I have a soft spot for FC's.

I would rather have one than an S13.

recommend doin your homework on the wankel. there not hard, just different. that 240 sounds like a piece. if the rx hasent been rebuilt, its over due by like 40,000 miles. if its your only ride, id say get the 240. but it may be time for something different

I'd pass both and find something in better shape.

go for the FC if you like learning, getting your hands dirty and are all about routine maintenance.13b's will last if they are taken care of....well more like spoiled rotten and given tons of attention.the people who have misconceptions about them 90% of the time have never owned one, dont know how they work or are just set in theyre ways.they can be reliable, make power and be durable just dont expect it to get good mileage and not consume oil (the engine oil is used to lubricate the apex seal as it rides the wall, this oil gets burnt during combustion = constantly burning small amounts of oil)i like them.

but serously , i love the wankel but in my opinion they are torque less, finicky when making power and the 2 rotors make the most annoying sound ever.

and everyone at the strip hates you, cause you ruin the track, and make us wait forever while the crew cleans up your mess.

if your unemployed, you dont need a toy...you need a job.that 240 is a nasty looker, in a real bad way.and the fc "needs work"...id ask for specifics, because you can probbaly count on needing to rebuild and having a worn transmission, syncros.pretty much niether is a deal and if thats all the money youve got, u gonna need mo' !

Nah, unemployment FTW. The work he said it needs is the fender and that the headlight wont go down because of the fender being bent under it. I have a 350z currently but im waiting on Nissan to come get it. but ive also got a 76 chevy shortwide that i daily drive and a 09 suzuki m50.

Back in 07' my brother in law bought an Turbo FC. He taught me how to drive with a manual transmission in it. I loved every part of the car.... except for the 6 puck unsprung clutch. They are fun to drive but you really have to take care of them or they'll bend you over the table with problems.

I have a single turbo FD and it's the most reliable car I own. I had to drive my FD last month 8 hours to PA for an event, and 8 hours back with no problem. I have been using my FD as a track car for the past 3 years now. I have not had any problems with my FD either. I love it, just jump in the car, let it warm up, and beat the hell out of it. The most matinince you will have to do is change oil(on time), and plugs like any other car. I would also suggest premixing to be safe, as the rotary needs oil to lubricate the apex seals. If you ever go past a stock set-up make sure some one who knows how to tune tunes it. Every one I know who has problems with rotaries is from junk tunes(probably biggest killer of a rotary), junk parts, and overall lazy matinince.

I just sold my s14sr s14, and can say I had less problems with my FD than s14. I also owned the FD for 3 years, and s14 for 1 year. Im just trying to shed some light on the rotary. If you buy the FC do a compression check before you buy it. Most people don't know anything about the rotary including the people who own them, and blow them up all the time.

That some pretty good information man. I think theyre just like other cars where theres some good and some bad its just random. A lot of people are scared of the whole rotary motor, but the ones who have had one and have actual experience with one are pretty confident in them. The rx7 is about 3 hours away and the 240 is about 5 hours away. Once i get pics of the fc i will post em up. Thanks for all the help

i'll always choose my fc over my s13 for many reasons. but be prepared to learn things the hard way if you just dive into getting an fc. i will say i'm not a fan of the s4 though, but if it was an s5 T2 it'd be a no brainer

the srd hatch sold and im still waiting on pics of the fc. Yeah i like the s5 a lot more because of the sexy tail lights. ive been looking around on rx7club and im learning a lot. Im noticing there is a lot to learn tho and its all completely different.

FYI what opnions you will find here are not the most reliable. Most members on NICO are 17 and learned all they know about cars from Fast and Furious. Anyone who states that a rotary is inherently unreliable is either ignorant or just plain does not know. I have worked on and owned both FCs (I owned an S5 for a few years) and various engined S13s (KAD/E, KA-T, SR, RB and my CA) and I must say that the 13B is a much easier engine to work with. I say get the car that really steals your heart. Both have their ups and downs and both will be a money pit.
