A oem filter from nissan would be the best to use.

Courtesyparts.com has them for 6$ each then add shipping

http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...SR20T

but if you need one now you could use the Fram Tough guard it works just fine.

I remember a friend of mine telling me he read somewhere maybe here, about a guy cutting a filter open and finding cardboard where the filters should be. I read from a guy who used to work for Fram saying they use the cheapest materials possible to make their filters.

He said she said

No i have no actual proof. I dont risk it, OEM for life.

Do some research, you will quickly realize why fram is so hated by all those that love their engines.

Yes. It actually cost me a motor.

My motor sucked in a gunk of silicon gasket material right by the oil pump outlet and that gunk was supposed to get FILTERED through the oil filter but what happened? It made its way into the head instead resulting in oil starvation to the head and a screwed up bottom end.

FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap. FRAM is crap.

^^and there's some supporting evidence. Look, it all goes back to getting what you pay for. you want the cheapest filter? Fram is among them. It's like putting supertech oil in your motor. It'll work (hopefully), but it's a far cry from the best, or even at being good.

Yeah, of course OEM works best for vitals. I have also read the stuff about Fram and was looking for first hand experience, which was provided by Ilikemy240sx. That's all I need.

I use a Fram in my impala...no problems yet...my dad uses one in the van and the buick...so they're A OK in my book...I never really saw the need on buying a more expensive oil filter other than the fram...because of the grippy crap.

I am sure that you can find documentation of every brand of oil filter failing. OEM, Fram, K&N, Quaker State, etc

I have used fram filters on both my KA and SR engine, my truck, my jeep, my dads truck, my fiances Jetta, maximas, etc.

I would say that I have installed close to a 100 Fram filters, with no failures yet.

That being said, I am going to switch to OEM filters. I am doing so because, I am installing a remote filter and it will be visible. I think the OEM will present better under the hood instead of a bright orange filter.

Just my 2cents

Never failed on me, but I worked at a place that used only fram. I've had to reimburse people for new filters countless times, and our shop had to buy a total of 11 engines after 3 years of oil changes due to catastrophic filter failure.

We have a saying in the between me and the guys you used to work at the shop "we wouldn't even put a fram on YOUR car!"

btw I use K&N now on the KA, OEM is what I will probably use for the first year after my SR20 is finished.
