Im sure i wasnt the only one intrigued by, 50/50 weight distribution and high revs. but the performance numbers were rather disappointing.

Honestly the RX8 is a nice looking car w/ potential to be great (if you add turbo) but working on the SOB's is a nightmare. To have someone that knows how to work on it, is expensive.
umm correction 2004 mazda rx-8 has 238 hp 197 probably for another trim ..come on dont make it look that bad thats mazdas top sports car next to the mazda speed 3 i doubt it would be 197hp.... but anyway yea rotary FTL buy a Z regardless

The automatic RX-8 have 197 hp but slightly higher torque than the manual. The manual GT model has 237 hp. The gearing combined with the 9000 rpm redline makes the car deceptively quick. Motor trend clocked 0-60 at 5.9 sec.....but that was giving the car a bunch of revs and dumping the clutch. Once at speed, you will be surprised that it can keep up with a lot of more powerful cars.

I found the RX-8 to be more agile than my current ZR. They have a dry weight of about 3000 lbs, but most of the mass is near the center of gravity. They are actually great fun to toss around. With 50/50 weight distribution, winter driving was pretty good. Not as good as my Maxima, but better than some older BMW and MB models I had owned.

Sports cars are RWD, two seater, and are geared towards power and handling rather than passenger space.

A sedan or 4-passenger coupe with a lot of power can be a fun car but it is not a sports car.

Many of the cars you listed are sporty cars or a sports sedan.

I have to respect the RX8 as far as it's innovation, handling, and whatever are concerned... but the real turn off for me is long term. Look on an rx8 board and you'll see the problems peopel have in the long run with these cars. The Z is far more reliable, handles great, and id say is far more fulfilling to drive. Plus, at the end of the day, you're going to get sick of having like 20 ft lbs of torque if you get the rx.
