i did some testing today and heres what i found

- when i keep the vac/boost gauge at 0 i can redline it, i dump into the next gear, aslong as i roll into it, it still can be redlined, but the SECOND get into boost and hit 5 psi, it coughs and puffs black smoke and goes into a rich condition

- My intake system is 1000% free of leaks,

- My Vacuum system is 1000% free of leaks

- when i disconnect the wastegate (tie it open) the car runs fine, redlines fine and drives just like it should NA, no torque, but it still runs

- When there is no load on the engine, i can rev it and it will generate boost, it will boost up to 5 psi, the boost gauge will bounce back and forth to 0psi and it will shoot black smoke out the exhaust, rpms break up and bounce all over the place

what the hell is going on with my car, i dont think ive had this many problems with any vehicle ive ever driven, im so close to buying a KA24E and putting it back.

that is very strange, you just replaced the MAFs correct? and youve check voltage on all the related sensors,

So, as it stands, anytime positive manifold pressure is reached, the engine goes super rich.

do you have a laptop computer? it may be time to wire up the consult port and get yourself one of these http://www.blazt.biz/ the writeup for how to install it is here zerothread/268436

Because you cannot pull codes from the ECU, using that program will allow you to actively monitor all of the engines sensors, that way you can get a much more accurate idea of what the engine is doing under certain situations.

Either that or you could pick up a used ECU from somwhere, because trying to troubleshoot an issue like this without being able to talk to the ECU is like trying to do a rubicks cube while wearing a blindfold, its also possible that the ECU itself is the problem.

im tellin ppl ill trade them my daughterboarded ecu for a stocker. but no ones bitten.

what tuning functions does it have, what is all done to the ECU, I might be willing to trade, I have a spare ECU for my car, I just have to get it back from my buddy

its a regular daughter board. im pretty sure its got most functions, my buddy had it running with a GT2871R, HKS Cams, 550CC injectors ect. so im pretty sure you can mess with the fuel maps ect. the only thing done to the ECU is the socket and the jumper on the back.

my only thing about trading, is that i would have to recieve the other one first, so atleast i can have a car to drive seeing that this is my DD

thats cool, I will see what I can do, I need to get a hold of the guy I borrowed my spare too, he was having issues with his ECU and needed a known good unit to run some tests with. I should be able to talk to him by monday. Just off hand, is your ECU a 62 or a 63?

i did some more testing and i found out this

when i keep the boost at 0 i can rev right to 7 or 8 k, but when around 5 k, it sounds like the wastegate is opening and it goes back into vac. then if i get into the gas more it boosts agin, and pullslike it should

im having the same EXACT problem with my sr, and im also looking for a good ecu, my buddy and i think its an ecu prob or a mafs. its a ***** to find out...

Is your knock sensor working correctly?

sry for the "noobness" but how do u test the knock sensor?

i belive the guy who was working on it tested it, but just to be sure im going to test it again
