going on msn autos, it's telling me that both cars are only offered with a 5 speed auto, I was thinking that the big Mercedes actually had a 6 speed, am I wrong?

I know the M5 has a 6 speed, I think the big Jag has a manual but I can't remember, and I know the CTS-V is gonna have a manual 6.

G35 Sedan offered with a manual though right?

seems the big Super Sedan class is limited in manual transmissions sadly:(

that mean it's jumped timing or something?

seems like when any car mag does a competion of the big super sedans, the M5 remains on top for all around balanced performance, I think it kills all the others in handling though

Kills all others in maintenance costs and repair issues too.

Nothing like dropping 70 large on a new Bimmer, then going in for service and getting a beat-to-hell 318ti hatchback with 100K miles as a loaner car. Screw that.

At least the Mercedes Benz dealer will kiss you when they screw you.

I'd lean towards the Audi or the new M45, due early next summer (wait til you see it!) :D

Hey, AZ, what do you mean new M45. i thought iwas out already? when i first saw that on the sight, i fell in love with it. i told my mom thats what im going to be drving as my daily drive car when i get out of college. a black M45 with the chrome wheels. damn it looks fine as hell. only wish it came with a 6spd :(

and as for the lincoln continental, i wouldnt mind having a mid-60s hardtop with the suicide doors like the black one on the matrix. that is one pimp ride.

The current M45 (the one you've seen in dealerships and around town) is an 18-month production run. The restyled M45 is soon-to-be-released, and it's friggin' spectacular. Keep your eyes peeled!

I took the day off from work to AUDItion the RS6 today.

The folks at Brookline Audi were nice enough to let me take their gorgeous silver RS6 out for a quickie today.

First impressions:

This car is absolutely gorgeous. It's styling is very subtle and the smooth teardrop looks super-slick. Without the RS emblems and huge 18's you couldn't distinguish it from a regular A6.

The interior is a feng shui-ish paragon of minimalism. Businesslike, no nonsense, no faux woodgrain, nothing. The first thing I noticed with the steering wheel. After driving an A4 in the past, I'm convinced Audi makes the best steering wheels in the business (the Miata has a nice one too). The leather bucket seats are nice, not nearly as nice as my Q's seat though. But I'm nitpicking here, nothing short of a Ferrari can top the wet-suit look of the first gen Q seats.

Turn the key and the engine purrs to life. It's the type of aural province unique to these Teutonic machines. Bury your foot though and it sounds like T-Rex with hunger pains.

This car launches like a raped ape. The buckets and buckets of torque down low is just incredible! Even with the 6-speed auto, this car has power in any gear at any RPM. It didn't feel as fast on the freeway as an M5 I'd driven almost two years ago but then again, I never crept past 90mph.

The turbo's are about the size of my fist so turbo lag was imperceptible. Peering through the engine bay, it looks as though the exhaust manifolds are rather restrictive so maybe in the exhaust system alone, there's a good amount of power to be had. When I buy this car, I won't be dumping all kinds of cash for mods, maybe the typical aftermarket intakes, exhaust and an MTM ecu.

Now for the handling. This car handles like it's on rails. Deceptively agile for a 4,300 lb. beast, the active suspension system swallowed up potholes big enough to take out both kidneys. This is with 18 inch wheels! Braking is likewise as phenomenal. I was going about 90 when I realized the exit was about 150 ft. away. Going on the offramp this beauty hauled her two-ton hiny without much excitement. After some research I've found that it's possible to squeeze more than 500hp out of this car with air cleaner, exhaust and ECU.

Fred, I won't be selling the Q. I won't get much from it anyway so I'll probably just give this kid I'm mentoring.

I also drive a 2003 Audi A6 2.7T AWDand I’m somewhat disappointed, brakes are too soft, too much body roll, very lagy turbos, transmission isn’t the best. My freaking altima handles better…But…The AWD is awesome, and AWD burnouts are something you have to seeOnce the turbos kick in, it pulls like woa 14.5 ¼ mileThe luxury and quality is unsurpassable

Long story and I would love to share it with you

First Altimas.net is a very unfriendly place to be in, everyone new that posts doesn’t comeback EVER.

Second all the mods there are very abusive hypocrites and power hungry

At the very start A few people decided they don’t like my car, and started attacking me personally, everyone jumped on the band wagon, and so on.

all the other people wont speak their mind (because then they will be attacked) I got a lot of compliments…so this went on for a few months and I didn’t take anything personally until it got really bad, then I stopped going there at all for about 3-4 months, and in aug I came back, hopping things has changed. Nope

fast forward for today…a mod (that you should read his posts he is totally screwed up) started a poll to get me banned because I have graphics, like always everyone jumped on the band wagon, and here I am.

Aztek,

While you were at the Audi dealership, did you happen to look at the new A8-L? I saw the first one on the street the other day an in my opinion its even classier than the last generation - less understated (not hard). Great looking car in my opinion, and the interior is beatiful as well. Its about the same price range as the RS6. And if you wait until the new S8 comes out, that'll be a monster.

Holy crap, CM! That sux!

We've got rules here too, but everyone seems to be pretty cool about them.

I, for one, think the checkered graphics are kickarse. We're all about diversity here at NICO, so I'm glad you've found a home.

I fully intend a hostile (or friendly) takeover of Altimas.net at some point in the future - Just absorb them like a giant Nissan-powered amoeba. :D

Aztek,

if you want to impress onlookers as well as performance enthusiats, i still think the AWD G35 sedan is what you want. I have seen pictures of a black G35 sedan on 20inch HRE wheels and it was one of the sexiest cars i have ever seen. I would give you a link to the thread but the links to the pictures no longer work. Plus the AWD and stillen supercharger would would give it performance like non-other. The AWD system they are using on the G35 is the same as the skyline GTR. 100% rear biased unless you start to loose traction then it goes up to 50/50.Why pay more when you dont have to?

How is that stillen super charger? Who is the subcontractor?

Is it quality?

Ive heard some iffy reviews of stillen in the past.

between those two, I think I'd have to go with the Audi, pretty cool they let you take one out on a test drive, will Mercedes do that with the amg, or have you tried yet?

Hmmm...this AWD G35 sounds like it's worth looking into. Tried looking online but the AWD G35 articles don't mention any Stillen supercharger. How much power will it make?
