i just got my car dynoed today and the guys that dynoed it did the first pull in 4th gear which is what i asked. i told them to stop at 7k rpms just to be safe. the first pull was in 4th but my oil dipstick popped off due to pressure (kink in the oil catch can line) i got the kink fixed and they did the next pull in 3rd. no unforeseen problems that run, but the car wouldnt rev past 6.5k rpms. i forget if that was also a problem in the 4th gear pull (i think it was) but im not sure if he just stopped early because of the dipstick blowing out. didderson was with me and he speculated that perhaps 3rd gear cuts the revs lower then 4th and 5th do. that woudl make sense, but on the way home i ran 3rd gear and it went to the redline no problem. why is it that it wouldnt rev and higher on the dyno, but it will on the road? i appreciate any help

All three of my 4th gear pulls on the dyno resulted in a 6800 rpm speed limit cut.

I have never experienced a 3rd gear limiter. Are you sure they pulled in 3rd gear and not 4th?

Is it possible that the car misfired and the tech let off instinctively, when I was pulling, we experienced troubles with the tachometer signal wire to the dyno computer.

PS, what did you pull?

the first pull was in 4th but the second was def in 3rd, thats what they said they normally pull in. there was no back fire at all until a second after he let off. i pull 180 hp and tq on stock 7 psi. i'll post the graph later

Duh

When you did your swap did you disconnect the time circuit wires at the ECU?

I had this issue the first time I dynoed my car, with the time circuits still connected, pulling in third gear, the car attempted to travel through time when it reached 88 mph. I dont know what it is about 3rd gear dyno pulls, but it seems to activate the time circuits automatically, putting the car in time travel mode.

You will need to disconnect the time circuits before going to the dyno again.

of course. that would also explain the oil pressure build up, its cuz the flux capacitor was trying to activate
