and isnt an S13 hatch 52/48?

that was always my impression

Yeah, I've read different stats, so it's hard to tell which is right, but both versions are close to 50/50

I think you're both slow. (sorry)

As far as which is the better car to drift, they're about the same. The driver makes the biggest difference. Which one would I rather own to drift in? No question, a 240sx because its cheaper to maintain and repair than an RX7 (and drifting is hard on the car)

yeah, both our cars are stock.. [well like i said, he trashe his try to replace the engine wioth another one with less miles on it] and of course we're NOT pro drifters or anything. i just thought he was extra retarded for thinking his 7 would drift better than my 240, but i know that it DOES depend on the driver. if we swapped cars or something, it'd be a tough call..

Ech,ok, here's the deal:if you're comparing a stock US Spec any year 240sx to a US Spec FD Seven, the FD is the better drifter simply because it has more power available and a suspension that isn't tuned to appease the masses, and keep in mind our cars new costed under 20 grand, whereas sevens were over 30.In Japan, more or less the same, stock for stock, the seven is better. Like they say, you get what you pay for.Now which one would be a better platform for drifting, that's an arguable question, but it's a wash.If I were to buy a car for strictly drifting, I'd buy a 240 no question, unless I knew how to work with a wankel because even if you do get a Jspec motor, they're notoriously known for their bunk quality, thus them being so cheap.Let's not kid ourselves here, the FD stock is the better car which is where your friend's ****iness is being sourced, but let him be, it's his money, it's like trying to tell a Mustang owner that there are compacts out there that can beat it in a drag race (DSM anyone?).

Which dsm can beat a mustang in a grag race. The 99 gt-s does a 6.7 0-60 while a 99 mustang gt does a 6.0. A v6 mustang is a different story cause i rape those all day long and a dsm can barley beat me (half a car) but i raced a mustang gt and got beat by about 2-3 cars to 60. I also raced a friend of mine who has a gt and beat him till about 70 then he passed me, but he cant drive worth crap he just smoked his tires then he got traction and caught up. The only compacts that would win in a drag race would be 300zx tt, 350z, supra tt, vr-4, rx-7, and an s2000, but the s2k and the rx7 are really the only sport compact cars the others weigh as much or more than a mustang.

What Generations are you talking about here? I don't think there is any way in HELL that a 2nd Gen RX-7 went for over 30 Gs and I'm not too sure the S13 240sx's were 20.

As for the power difference, it really wasn't that noticible. Theres a local guy in town with an 88 RX7 who threw an intake and an exhaust on but when he put it on a dyno, it put down 115hp. Thats not what I'd call super powerful or anything.

Now if the RX-7 in question is a Turbo 2 model, then yeah, its most certainly a better car until you send a rotor through your hood in a lean situation.

But, comparing say, a 180sx with an SR20det to a Turbo 2, they'd be a close match, but even the RX-7 crew agrees that in stock form the 180 is a better drift car due to the suspension setup.

Personally, I like the looks of an RX-7 much better than a 240sx, until the point where I open the hood and try to work on it.

stock to stock the 240 is a better drift carfc3s have a soft rear bushing that is used for a mild 4 wheel steering thus hindering drift abilitybut with 90 dollar rear toe eliminator bushings it would make a world of difference by eliminating the rear steer effectalso it depends on what model of rx7 he hadall t2's, s5 GTUs, and gxl's came with the lsd all others didnt come with it
