is there a tutorial, or can somebody tell me how to tighten up my roof? I have areas that are so saggy that water pools on it in the rain.

It's failry easy. Remove K5566(Molding Headliner #1 Bow), pull the top forward and install it back.

also when you tighten it up you might want to put some waterproof treatment on it keep the water repelling off the surface.

Just curious 94', I took off that part that your supposed to and look at the part to which your have to pull forward. But I im totally lost. Can you take pics of how you did it? From what I saw everything has double sided tape to it and what not.

If there happens to not be enough fabric (as in my case) I just stretched the roof this way:zerothread?id=384265

Hey 94, can you give me a little more info on this? I have a few days off and would really like to get this done. When I take the molding off, I am not see ing what I need to do to make the roof material tighter?????

Basically, this is what you want to do. Pull the top fabric this way. Maybe it's the trim in front of K5566, not K5566. Anyway, remove some screws to take the trim out and you should be able to pull the fabric. I know it because I've done it before on my buddy's 240 vert. Fabric was glued to the frame with sillicone.

I'm guessing this will reduce the "hot air ballon" effect while driving?

It's possible, but "hot air ballon" effect is mostly because of worn out velcro on top of rear plastic window.

My velcro is fine, and I had the balloon effect going. I got the trim piece off and got the front edge all unstuck. I pulled it tighter by about 3/8" and black taped it in place and put roof back up. It is looking good, and even tightened up things in the rear. I have the two corners glued right now. I saw that you need to pull the corners not only fwd, but also to the sides to get the wrinkles out. Once the corners are dry, I will glue the rest of it and put the trim piece that actually holds it in place back on. I can tell all ready this is going to take care of my problem.

Sounds good. How's weather up there? Is it humid? I'm asking you because my top is loose on humid day, but gets really tight on dry day, so you gotta have some slack for hot summer.

Its 18 degrees and snowing! Thank god for heated garages!!!!! The roof I am working on sagged so bad that water pooled on it, I am not worried about getting it too tight. I am thinking so long as it closes without binding, the material itself should allow for humidity changes.

I hear you, but problem is velcro won't engage if it gets too tight and you will have bubble effect. My point is it has to be just about right.

Once I get done, I am going to have to investigate the rear curtain a little closer. I don't know what you mean by the velcro won't engage, are you telling me that the velcro undoes itself when roof lowered then re-attaches when put up?[

Velcro undoes by itself when the top is up and you have to put it back on manually, but it'll undo itself again later.

Well I am done, and I must say I am extremly pleased with the results! It looks GREAT, no sag, but not too tight either.

I also know what you mean now about the velcro, mine is definatly not holding, but not because roof is too tight, the velcro is just flat wore out, it does not even try to stick.

The top itself is glued to the front piece on the inside edge. I used a small putty knife and went along and got the roof free, then simply pulled it about 1/2" fwd. Reglue and clamp it in place, once glue dries put it back together. I used "Gorilla Glue" some strips of wood and vice grips to clamp.

If anyone cares to do a detailed overview of fixing the vert tops we can add it to the 240sxTech and 'vert portal pages
