Ok, I finally recieved my wiring kit and im ready to do my battery relocation project. seeing as how i didn't want to wait unitl my next day off (which is tuesday) i just decided to do it tonight in the dark in my garage... here we go.

Step 1: Remove the battery.

Pretty straight forward the posts are 10mm iirc. Just unbolt then unscrew the batt hold thingy wich is 10mm too. yank the battery, carful not to get any acid on ya!

will look like this when you are done.

Step 2: Prepare wiring.

I like installs to be clean so i opted to get a distribution block so that i wouldnt have to have an ugly mess of wires when i joined my new power to the old ones that used to be on the battery. I went with a lightning audio one that had 2 1/0 gauge inputs and 3 8 gauge inputs. worked like a dream and made everything look soo nice. ignore the zipties;)

Feel free to ooohhh and ahhhh at it!

Step 3: Mounting the battery in the trunk

I chose to mount it on the passenger side due to the fact that it has a perfect spot for it, and i still got to retain the use of my spare tire, there are 4 bolts that you can use so you wont have to drill! Installation is pretty straightforward. I got my box from Walmart for 6 bucks!

Step 4: Wiring the car

I found a nice grommet right above my gas pedal that was just the right size for my 2 gauge wire. I ran the wire under the carpet along the driver side and you cant see a single hint of wiring if you are looking close... im that good!

Step 5: Finishing her up

I have read that it is wise to fuse the wire just for safety purposes. Well i went a step further. I just went ahead and bought a phoenix gold 100amp circuit breaker with kill switch. now i wont have to buy expensive fuses everytime i decide to blow one! i found a nice grounding spot that the factory uses for the rear lights and just grounded to that. I ran the wire under the carpet for that oohh soo clean look. Enjoy!

I havent really gotten a chance to really drive her and test out the new weight distribution, but im happy with the end result of a cleaner engine bay. Please feel free to post any criticisms and or concerns. Thank you for your time. Ronin

I don't see that you drilled the floor of the trunk to attach the battery hold down. Did you just put the battery in the box and lock it?

Othr than that you did a fantastic job, very clean indeed.

yes normal cheap battery box. it is drilled into the car... not near anything vital. as for wire i think i got 20 fot of positive and 3 ft negative. best thing to do is buy it at a stereo store.... called amp wiring kits!

I would like to see where you bolted the box to the car. My problem is I can't find a good place to bolt the stupid thing in.

Also your idea of getting adapters from the stereo place is ingenious. I am sooooo stealing your idea!:pface Great write-up I would just like to see under the car where the box is bolted if that is possible. Right now I have a Civic battery ghetto rigged to fit next to my coldpipe:help So I really need to get the battery relocated so I can finally put the Civic battery back in my Civic!

lol jspec as i was stripping the 2 gauge with a razor i almost sliced my hand open.... does that count?

The box is just held in by 2 screws. Im guessing they are right ontop of the muffler heat sheild.

The box is a marine battery box, i found it in the outdoors section... by all the fishing stuff. It was on sale... yay me!

Oh and if you are gonna use the distribution block idea, look for them online you will find them a whole lot cheaper than you will at any store around you.

if i read correctly, the box is screwed down, the spare subframe bushings he put in the box prevent the battery from moving too much. is there a vent tube? what no optima?
