So I installed a 4 point autopower roll bar on my 92 coupe. My rear seats are still functional so people can still sit down on the back. Well Im looking for some good roll bad padding incase one of my passengers hits the bar so it wont hurt so much and will absorb the hit. I have never felt or seen padding before. So please help me which padding is right for me. Is any sfi 45.1 good for that? Links and brand of padding would be great thanks.

I would try trampoline padding.
I'm talking about the trampolines with those nets surrounding the entire thing.

Your local bike store might carry "nard guard" padding... essentially its padding for the top tube on BMX bikes that prevent you from crushing your nuts if you slip off the pedals. I'd look into that.

get on one of your local circle track forums to find a speed shop that sells parts. they will have legit fire retardant roll bar padding. If you are going to do it spend a few extra $, especially on your safety. In the off case that something happens and your car catches fire, the fire retardant padding wont liquify and drip. with normal foam padding when put to fire it turns into a liquid, and drips molting hot plastic on what ever/whoever is underneath. Became a rule at the tracks here in new york that you have to use it after a driver was seriously injured by generic foam padding dripping on them.

here is a link to where you can purchase it on jegs.

I wouldn't bother with the walmart padding. It might feel soft, but in a real accident it wont provide any real protection.

What I would suggest is dual density padding.

Normal SFI 45.1 padding is great, but it is designed to protect a helmeted head from being damaged, it won't do a bare noggin too much good. The dual density stuff is more spendy, but it should protect a wider range of things from incurring too much damage in an accident

Really though, I would try not to put too many people in the back seat, its just not safe back there with the cage, no matter what kind of padding you put back there.

You can find the right padding at saferacer.com. As was mentioned spend a little more and get the good stuff. Its not worth risking safety much less the safety of someone else because you wanted to save a few dollars.

Have a great day,
Jared
