Can anybody help me find a Wind Deflector for my Nissan Rogue? I'm in the Richmond, VA area and have been told by my dealer that they are on backorder.

The noise from my opened sunroof when driving is quite loud. Please help.

The screws just bend around the metal of the sunroof. Really easy...I just took mine off.

They fit around the metal folds in the roof. Hold the sunroof visor up to the car and you should see how they go.

Really? I had no problems installing it myself. However, it sounds like whoever sold it to you didn't include the instructions.

Still, seems like it would still be fairly simple. Three clips, three screws (three holes in the deflector) and the deflector itself. Might not be very clear what the stickers are for but they protect the paint underneath the clips.

The other thing that would probably help is that the instructions say to use a rag to keep the built-in deflector depressed and out of the way.

It was the space problem and i was installing it by myself. The clip kept falling down while I pick up the screw.

Also, when i open and closed the moon roof now, there are strange sounds. i think it is the rubber rubbing against the clip. No?

If you have a "new" sound only now after installing the deflector then the answer is probably YES... "something" is rubbing! You'll want to determine what it is and correct the situation as quickly as possible or you may be rubbing against a painted surface ... which could potentially lead to bare metal and rust Or... you may be rubbing against a rubber seal which could eventually damage the seal resulting in a leak every time it rains or you go thru a carwash.

Maybe if you could have someone operate the sunroof while another person stands on a stool or ladder outside the car so they can observe and listen to the operation from the roof side of the installation.

QUESTIONS TO OWNERS OF THE DEFLECTOR:> Is the Genuine Nissan deflector held on with 3M Tape or Screws?

> Is there an advantage to buying a Genuine Nissan deflector versus an aftermarket design? (i.e., lower profile, color choices, effectiveness, better design).

> Does the installation of the deflector "really" reduce the noise level enough to justify the hassle of the purchasing and installing it?

I've read comments (complaints) in other threads that they removed the deflector because it further reduces the size of the opening (which is already significantly reduced because the sliding panel does not open all the way). Actually if it impedes the opening a little I don't really care too much... but I would like to cut down on the noise level of the rushing wind. My old Acura had a very small pop up deflector that wasn't more than 2 inches wide. When opened it only stuck up above the roof line about 1/2 inch but it worked great.

The clip is rubbing against the rubber section of the moonroof I believe. Have you heard of a "new" sound after installing it?

I have not installed one on a Rogue yet "but" I've installed plenty in my lifetime. I have never had one interfer with sunroof operation , rub or make noise . I would think that it is HIGHLY unlikely that you should hear any new sounds when opening or closing the roof as a result of the install.

That said... "if" a deflector is installed correctly, per the manufacturers installation instructions,... "and" it make a rubbing / noise after the install... and the manufacturer tells you that it is "normal" for you to hear a new rubbing type noise after the install... then IMHO ... its a piss-poor design.

I would suggest you contact the manufacturer or whoever you purchased it from and ask if you should be hearing new noises as a result of the install.

Since its a Nissan part ... forget about calling Nissan directly. For one, I don't think the Nissan manufacturing plant actually installs any deflectors. I believe its an aftermarket accessory installed by Nissan dealers. It would be easier to call a couple local Nissan dealerships in your area. You might get a service department tech willing to discuss it with you. Dealerships install the deflectors all the time so they would know if what you are experiencing is normal.

Then again maybe a member in this forum that has a Nissan deflector can chime in as to any strange noises.

I just notice the clips are being bend outwards. The top half of the clips. Same for you?

There was a TSB related to moonroof issues last year:
»NTB09139 - SB Rogue; Sunroof Will Not Close Completely

IF YOU CONFIRM: The sunroof will not close due to interference by the wind deflector. ACTION: Replace the wind deflector with the one listed in PARTS INFORMATION on Page 2. For part replacement, refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE on Page 2. See this bulletin for further detail.

Correction,

The TSB is for the integral wind delector that is part of the sunroof assembly. It has nothing to do with the accessory wind deflector you are having issues with.

Elton, I can say for sure the wind noise is drastically reduced. I can drive on the highway( 100/110km p/h) and it does not bother me. Try that without the deflector.I had the dealer install it when we bought the vehicle. Would not do without it Paul

I thought I add this since this topic came up. For those who are new rogue owners, there is another option instead of the standard sunroof wind deflector. They also have the TWO-flap models which was new to me when I was researching way back when;..... but nobody seems to mention it here.

It allows you and your passenger to adjust how much air you wanted deflected into or away from your face. Perhaps you want more air and your passenger on the other hand does not want to be blasted with air.

Anyways, its another option!

autoanything.com & wooddash.com carries them.

Oh that is not mine. Those were just options I found out there. From the pictures it looks like 2 clips I am not sure.

As for me, I bought your regular garden variety moonroof deflector from AVS bought at my local Advance Auto. It was an impulse buy. Its higher than the usual OEM and more bubble looking but looks don't bother me and it really quiets the moise when the sunroof is open.

The only thing I don't like is that you can see some of the white tape under in the front.

does the OEM use tape as well as clips? I spose I could call the dealer to find out...I've got to get rid of the wind noise! (btw, the wind noise is only heard when the roof is closed! grr!)
