Hello!

I am hoping someone can give me some guidance. This morning, as I was driving to work, I started hearing a rattling noise coming from the front passenger side of the car when I was stopped at a red light. The noise doesn't start immediately when I come to a stop, but starts after about 30 seconds. It only makes the noise when the car is in drive. If I put the car into reverse or park, the noise stops.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the noise? And if it needs to be checked/repaired, an estimated cost?

Thanks!

My 2013 had the same issue but was fixed under warranty per this TSB:

Subject: SB 2008-2014 Rogue Exhaust Center Tube Heat Shield Rattle
Summary of NTB14018:
IF YOU CONFIRM A rattle coming from the exhaust center tube heat shield, and a heat shield spot weld is detached, ACTION Install a band clamp around the heat shield and over the detached spot weld. See this bulletin for further detail.

I had the same rattle. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a heat shield. It made the same noise as soon as I pulled out of the lot. I took it home and hubby reached underneath and bent it up a little. Never had a problem again.

The dealer told me it was the alternator and it needed to be replaced, but the car starts fine and runs fine. I told them that I didn't want it fixed today and I would get a second opinion. Does this sound possible? The car is only 4 years old.

I will be looking into this when I have time this weekend. My heat shield has been rattling for a while now, but it's gotten very bad lately.

I did find a copy of that TSB, http://i.imgur.com/ty0Z1N7.png

My noise was due to the exact same spot on this TSB. The one weld came loose and was rattling. I thought it was going to be more than one weld that came loose from all the noise, but I put the band clamp on it and it's quiet once again :dblthumb:

I am experiencing a rattle about 60% of the time when i hit a bump coming from somewhere in the front. Along with this the passenger window when in any other position other tan completely closed or completely opens kind of like rattles as well. Doesn't seem like it is totally secure. Are there any quick fixes for either of these or will the dealer be able to fix them for me?

The noise isn't wen coming to a stop, its just when i hit a bump every once in a while, coming from either the dashboard or somewhere infront.

there is no way we can tell you, without an audio clip at the very least. there are 100,000+ parts on a car.
it could be either of 4 struts, 4 strut bushings, 4 hub bearings, 2 sway bars, hood, etc.

head to the dealer mate.

I've noticed that when I come to a stop or decelerate I hear like a rattle noise coming from the front of the engine. I will be posting a video tonight.

I've revised your title. Please take a moment to read this:

--------> READ BEFORE CREATING NEW THREAD! <--------

2. USE THE CORRECT TITLE: That means, make sure your title has the topic at hand. Don't title something: "I have a question" or "Small concern" or "Rogue issues". Instead title it: "Tire tpms question" or "Rear bumper paint issue".

Did you check it? If so, was it loose? If you didn't check, please explain why you didn't.

BTW, have you taken the vehicle to a mechanic?

there is no way for us to tell. its something to do with the vehicle speed. maybe rotors, shafts, transfercase, etc. head to a mechanic.

I just fixed some rattles from my ROGUE engine compartment, and I must say, I tried to pat myself on the back afterwords.

Anyway, two things I found pretty quickly were air filter plastic supply tube being slightly loose and banging against the wheel well underneath. For this I used a 1/4 inch approx chair felt floor pad in the little space top of wheel well against filter tube.

OK. Other problem was the radiator reservoir. Same problem, same fix. I took my Rogue out on rough road put it through a pothole test and hey, rattles gone! P.S. These rattles really sound like it's a suspension bushing problem. So check the simple things first. From inside a car, a small rattle can sound massive due to drum effect of metal.

HOPE THIS HELPS SOME. DEALERS will NOT check these little things. You know why? $$$$$.

Hi all. New to the forum and I did a search but didnt find anything. I bought a used 2013 Rogue. Still under warranty (yay) I noticed that at high speeds, 75/80mph (not that i drive that fast...) i hear a knocking noise under the hood. Intermittent. Like aluminum hitting itself. Ity happens Only at high speeds. I Havent been able to figure out what it is. Thinking it may be a loose heat shield or something. Any suggestions? thanks!
