Share the details of your epic adventures. Post pictures if you have them. I'll go first...

Trip #1 - Summer of 1988 - My dad and I load up into a 1982 Honda Civic and head out for the west coast. It was probably the grestest road trip of my entire life. We stopped off at all the local tourist traps but my favorite, without a coubt, was Yellowstone. we spent three solid days there and it was absolutely beautiful. If you have never been out there, GO before it becomes too populated for people to enjoy. We went to Washington State, saw the Pacific Ocean, took a LOT of state highways instead of the interstates and saw some of the most beautiful places on earth. Pictures in your geography book do absolutely NO justice. You have to see it for yourself to appreciate it. Sorry, I do not have any digital pics of this trip. If I can get any of my film pics to scan decently, I'll post some up later.

Trip#2 - March 2009. Trip to Savannah. Greg asked me to marry him. Enuf said! We will make a BIG album of all the pics Greg took on photobucket and post a link soon.

Been planning it for a while but crap at my work & Holli's work has it up in the air at the moment. Here's hoping though.

Are we talking family (G rated) road trips or "buddy" (X-rated) road trips? Hard to pick a favorite as they're all great. My next one is next weekend for a couple days on VIR's full course

Last big family road trip one was last summer when we drove out to Sandusky OH in our Altima. (Cedar Point is a roller coaster mecca and my son is into them). We made a few stops enroute, like Hershey (Hershey PArk), Pittsburgh (Kennywood - home of the Thunderbolt), and Cleveland (stopping at the Rock n Roll hall of fame. Fun trip.

I've had quite a few road trips...

Last year me and a friend went to Carlisle, which was awesome.

I got paid a G to drive with my step-dad on a delivery from Lodi, NJ to Lincoln Airport in Nebraska and back. We made it in 40 hours, and it was nuts.

I've also done NJ to West Palm Beach FL and vice versa a couple times to move cars for some family members.

Last January me and my Dad drove from New Jersey to Atlanta GA for the NHL All-Star Game and spent a couple days there. He got sick and was sleeping the whole way home, so I did the whole drive in about 14 hours hopped up on cold medicine to prevent getting sick too.

This January me and Dad did NJ to Cleveland OH for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame followed by the Devils playing Columbus OH the next day, followed by games on consecutive days in Wheeling WV, Hershey PA, and Reading PA over a 5-day span.

Me and a friend of mine got bored one afternoon and randomly drove to Towson MD hoping our other friend wouldn't be doing anything that night...luckily she wasn't, lol. Not a long road trip, but a 3 hour drive on a whim was nuts none the less.

When I got my permit I was thinking of going to RIT for college, so me and my Mom drove up to RIT one morning from NJ and then on to my grandparents in Pittsburgh PA, and I've done the back and forth to Pittsburgh a ridiculous amount of times in my life.

When I was young (11 or 12) me and my Grandparents drove from NJ up to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame then to Niagra Falls Canada, and through Toronto and Montreal.

I've also done Boston from NJ with my girlfriend... but I don't think details are needed of that one.

I'm planning on doing Tornoto with my Dad this summer for the Hockey Hall of Fame, and possibly Montreal later on with my girlfriend for a vacation. The hockey schedule won't be released till August or September when we can start planning a Devils away game.

I guess its not surprising I love being in a car, huh?

Other than lots of planned trips with the wife that were great, there is one unplanned trip that was a blast. Back in '92 I was working on the stereo for my buddies truck while he was in Panama City Beach taking a vacation. He calls and needs the truck down there as he had bought some antique furniture. Being a Friday night I call another buddy of mine and we jam on down to PCB and get there around 6am with a room waiting for us. We grabbed a couple hours shut eye and wake to my other bud banging on the door at 9am with drinks waiting for us at the pool. We spent the day at the pool drinking and riding the SeaDoo's while also cruising around in his '91 Mustang GT 'vert (was a cool car at the time). After a late dinner we head back out to go home in the GT with the top down all the way, getting back around 8am.

Wish I had had more time for above trips but being a single father of two kids at the time it simply was not in the cards

One thing I'd mention is getting a AAA membership. Even if you can't imagine the thought of someone else bailing you out a of a mechanical jam its worth it just for the discounts at hotels & restaurants. With the popularity of GPS nav, its not such a big deal anymore, but AAA has also had the best & most up to date maps available as well, and the guidebooks are a nice thing to have if you plan a trip but don't actually have every minute of your time booked.

Here is a website that has a TON of good information on ithttp://www.roadtripamerica.com...g.htmand here is my two cents to go along with it.

Plan as much of your trip ahead of time as possible. Research all of the places you want to visit. Visit mapquest for directions, use GPS if you want, but also make sure that you take a road atlas. Great for showing alternate routes if you want to get off the interstate for a while and see some scenery.

One of the easiest ways to save $$, is to pack a cooler full of food to take with you. I'm not saying you have to eat while you drive, that's what rest areas are for, but buying every meal on the road is crazy expensive.

Some things that are a given. Maintenance your vehicle before you leave.New tires are a plus.Make sure you have a spare, jumper cables, and some basic tools.Make sure both of you has a key to the car. (Don't laugh, it's happened)

I can't remember what kind of car you said you were driving but if it is carbeurated instead of fuel injected, you might have to make some adjustments while crossing the Rockies. (Don't laugh at this either. With the drastic altitude changes, sometimes it's necessary in order to get your car over the mountains.)

AAA is definitely is a good idea. You get crazy discounts on hotels, restaurants, local attractions, and information on free stuff. Also, it is so nice to have them on call if you have a big emergency.

Dallas Texas to Olympia WA via Chicago Illinois, on Amtrak.

Dallas to Chicago was a rather boring leg of the trip.

The 23 hour layover in Chicago was a lot of fun. Got a motel, ate some great food, and went to the top of the Sears Tower.

Chicago to Olympia was a blast. Met some cool people on the train, and spent the majority of the time in the smoking car. The train attendants were really cool, and as long as the bottles were kept on the DL, they didn't have an issue with us having drinking sessions in the smoking car provided we kept it quiet.

Got off the train in Minot, North Dakota. A girl I met and I wandered off and smoked a doobie. No biggie, except for the fact that it was -27º. It was rediculously cold. So cold that when we smoked the roach, we burned the crap out of our fingers and didn't feel it until 20 minutes later on the train when we started to warm up. 3 day train ride girlfriends FTMFW!!! Thankfully Amtrak has "changing rooms" which fit two people nicely.

Dallas to Cottonwood Az

My buddy Brandon and I shared a place in Dallas. We grew up together in Cottonwood, so we would make regular trips back to Cottonwood. They weren't really great trips, but 18 hours each way spent with a good friend, bulls***ting the whole way.

im really hoping on a roadtrip this summer....... im going to jackson ms from Central Pa; i might end up flying tho.

its about 2400 miles round trip- which is ALOT to put on my 240 (not supposed to be over 5000 a year for insurance purposes, second car ftw)

and the cressida well... i wouldnt trust that to go 2 hours to philly and back in one day

the worst part is, im not old enough to rent a car, so if i fly i will be limited on what i can do (IE only have a car when my friend isnt working)

Contact your insurance company and tell them the situation. You will have to pay the standard rate for a month, then they should let it go back to second car status.

Trip 1: NSR_G50, NSRsheets, and I drove up to MD in my Sentra to pick up Steph's Kouki. Everyone on the forum knew Jerry was buying it for her but she had no idea. Spent a good 6-8 hrs getting there, then getting lost in MD and then driving it back with plates off of Sheets' car...lol . Was a lot of fun and was a great surprise for Steph.

Trip 2: Going to NICOFEST Carlisle back in '07. Had a big of caravan of cars with us: Jonas' 350z, Kenny's A32, Wes' Q, Evan's GTi, Sheets' Tiburon, My sentra, Steph's Kouki, and The diesel from hell hauling Jerry's Z. Was a lot of fun. We all met up at Jerry's house the day before and then headed out the next day. Good times. Then auto-xed the cars and had a blast.

Trip 3: NICOFEST Nashville '07 was a fun event the NSR crew went to. Took us 8hrs to get there, but we all had a blast down there at the Lane Auto Museum and the Dukes of Hazzard museum. Met a lot of cool people and some a lot of awesome cars. Saw the first production NISMO 350Z at the car show too. Definitely worth it.

Couldn't get the time last year for the events but I know NSR is planning on attending NICOFEST Nashville again this year.

I probably won't take an atlas, but AAA seems to be a no brainer.

Your not kidding. I started planning meals bathroom breaks etc into our trip...It seems like we are going to stop for food about 8-10 times on the road. That definitely adds up.

Well we are renting a car so it is definitly going to be FI, but just the fact that you know that puts a smile to my face. Greg is one lucky...

My sister got accepted to UCSD, the family went with her to check it out. It's like a whole mini city, but the university is split up into colleges so it keeps a small college feeling for the students.Very cool.

In May, Greg and i will be making the trek from TN to AZ to take me home. Our passengers will include my 13 year old daughter, her cat, and her hamster. There is NO way we will be able to drive 1900 miles without some epics adventures, so we will post details and pics when we arrive.

Oh God. I've done drives that far solo and loved it. Not sure how I would fair with a 13 year old girl. That would get annoying fast.
