Im trying to find some rims for my 89 but everytime i find one that is 17x7 it says it only fits the 94, is there any difference or will my 89 clear 17x7 rims? thank you

Your 89 will be able to clear them. 89 and 94 models are essentially the same in terms of wheel fitment. Some people might say that 17X7 isn't wide enough however. I know I'm doing 17X9's when I pick up some Falken Hanabi's.

They are called "wheels", not rims.

17x7 is pretty much the standard for cheap, high offset wheels that are sold by the ton to ricers. keep that in mind.

youre going to want to do some more research in the wheels and tires section, which is where im moving this.

more importantly, learn about offsets, for thats what determines everything. Width doesn't mean sh1t if you don't know offsets.

also, steer clear of anyplace that makes wheels specifically for a certain model or year of a car. as long as you know the bolt pattern and size matches your car's specs.

ok offset is where the wheel mounts comapred to the true dead center of the rim right? and with higher offset comes more negative camber?

camber and offset are irrelevant.

Camber is associated with your suspension.... I guess the only relationship they have with each other is that the smaller the offset (even negative offset), more people tend to add camber to "fit" the wheels inside their wheel wells, but it entirely depends on the driver or whatnot

ok so how could i go out to my car and tell what offset and everything i need. and camber causes premature tire where does it not?

well theres a few ways... the easiest way is reading the sticker on the back of the wheel that tells the specs, lol...

other than that, you'd have to bust out the ruler. with the tire removed from the wheel, find the center line of the wheel from the top/bottom of the wheel, that's your +0 offset. from there, try to measure the part of the wheel that touches the hub in mm, if the wheel goes inward past the +0 mark, then thats negative mm offset, if it goes toward the outside of the wheel (the part you can see when the wheel is on the car), then thats +offset. Adding spacers also change the final offset of the wheel as well...

for example: if I have a 16x8 +10 wheel, and I add 10mm spacers on them, the final offset of the wheel is +0, making the wheel a 16x8 +0.

and about camber and tires.... its kinda a yes and no type of thing that can be argued. Ideally, I'd like to say its tow angle that wears tires, not camber. But it really depends on your roads and how you drive, like if your fronts have camber dialed in and your constantly understeering, ofcouse your gonna have tire wear, lol. Lowering, raising, and changing camber your car changes the suspension geometry.. just get an alignment and you should be ok

well, if you wanna be flush, I'd say go with a 17x8 +10, but make sure and roll your fenders.

but if you want a suggestion on what wheel size to go with, I'd rather go with a 17x9 +15ish all around

or drop at all. I guess you don't have to roll fenders if you still have stock suspension...

yeah. you would think nico had some sort of special forum with FAQs that answer all your questions for you or a nifty search button to help you find the info, wouldn't you?
