Help me out here. I recently bought a 93 vert. White. Bone stock other than the K&N drop in I put in.
I really want to replace the stock 15s with 17s.
I read around the forum and decided that I think the wide lip looks good. I will eventually lower it with sport springs and struts. But I do not want to have to roll fenders. Hopefully, I can get away with not using spacers.
I have narrowed my searches to Sportmax. I like how the Sportmax Silver 006 looks but found that I can not go staggered with the Silvers, so I might go with the Gunmetal. I found them on Craiglist where I can pick them up locally for $502/set.
The tire/wheel package comes with Nexxen tires205 40 17 FRONT 17 X 8235 40 17 BACK 17 X 9
$840 with tuner lugs + $69 for mounting.
Is that a reasonable deal? Will these measurements work? Are Nexxen tires ok? Does anybody have the same set up in their car? If you do, please post pics.
Thank you in advance.
ok... wait, why don't you wanna roll your fenders?
If you want to be flush, you have to roll your fenders. theres no way to rock a stance like this (pic below) without rolling your fenders, unless you dont wanna go this agressive
(the pic has his fenders pulled a bit)
i mean, even if you don't wanna have an agressive stance like the pics i posted, your fenders have about an inch of fenderness that protrudes into the wheel well that can potentially cut up or rub any tire with a wheel set up thats an inch away from your fenders (pretty broad).
as far as your choice for wheels and tires, those tire specs aren't for the 240sx, and the wheel specs don't show offset (which should be the determinant of the purchase). call up the company that sells the wheels and ask them what the offsets on the wheels are. If they are anywhere under +20, i'd say go for it. The thing is, nowadays, more and more japanese cars are rockin wheels with a higher offset (like +40 and higher) i.e. lexus is300, s2000... etc, so chances are they might be intended for those applications, especially since the tire specs look like theyre for hondas.
and about the nexxan tires, I've never driven on them, but all the reviews I've heard on nexxan were'nt good.
If you want decently priced high performance tires, search for a tire company called Federals. My buddy got a full set of 18" federal-595 tires for like $230 brand new from
http://citytireonline.com/
anyways, if you wanted my wheel & tire advice on a 17x8/9, I'd go with 17x8 +10 with 215/45/17 & 17x9 +15 225/45/17 (which is the setup I have)
