Ok I did the searches.

I have decided on 17s to replace my stockers. I love the staggered look. But I found these for $500 with tires. velox vx8 17x7 with a +40 offset. 4x100 and 4x114.3 ...but they are not staggered.

Lots of people here go with Sportmax... is it because they are good or they are cheap? I am on a shoestring budget.

What sizes are important for a staggered 17..offsets, bolt patterns, etc.

Suspension is stock. I dont think i am going to be doing body kits anytime soon. So all those with staggered rims .. please help me with pics. How much did you spend? Where did you get yours?

I am in So. Cal. LA/SFV.

Too look right you would want an offset lower than +30 for sure. Most people do the sportmax because they are cheap but also have good offsets for the 240.

I don't like staggered, so I'll stay off of that.

you can run 17x9 +35 with small spacer in front in the sport max 962s i know for sure, and they'll give you almost a 3in lip. if you want to spend around 600 to 700 for some wheels with nice lip and offset i would check some of the used jdm wheel sites. then you can get like ssr or something, which is a huge improvement from sportmax. check rbmotoring for starters

I know they said the offset must be lower than 30 ... So this will not work? 17x7" +38 17x8" +38 4x114.3 4h

Would still be 'sunk' in and not flush with the fender. But would work.

I wouldn't do staggered again (I have a staggered setup). An even-width setup would look and handle better.

staggard set-ups are overrated...

just get 17x9+15 all around and be happy. you can rotate your tires easier too

agree with adrian. 17x7 and 8 are honda size wheels. i would go at least 8.5 either way stick with the same size all around. i think have they same lip or concave all around looks badass.

Thanks man. wish there were more verts :-) i know they are the same specs.

the 16s are looking good too. maybe i'll save a little bit of money with 16s instead of 17s. I really dont want to make the car any heavier...but the lightweight rims are sooooo expensive.

i enjoy my stagger. 17x9 +15 offset for the front and 17x10 +15 for the rear. The wheels fit very flush to my fenders and i had to do a roll and a pull.

Help me out here. I recently bought a 93 vert. White. Bone stock other than the K&N drop in I put in.

I really want to replace the stock 15s with 17s.

I read around the forum and decided that I think the wide lip looks good. I will eventually lower it with sport springs and struts. But I do not want to have to roll fenders. Hopefully, I can get away with not using spacers.

I have narrowed my searches to Sportmax. I like how the Sportmax Silver 006 looks but found that I can not go staggered with the Silvers, so I might go with the Gunmetal. I found them on Craiglist where I can pick them up locally for $502/set.

The tire/wheel package comes with Nexxen tires205 40 17 FRONT 17 X 8235 40 17 BACK 17 X 9

$840 with tuner lugs + $69 for mounting.

Is that a reasonable deal? Will these measurements work? Are Nexxen tires ok? Does anybody have the same set up in their car? If you do, please post pics.

Thank you in advance.

ok... wait, why don't you wanna roll your fenders?

If you want to be flush, you have to roll your fenders. theres no way to rock a stance like this (pic below) without rolling your fenders, unless you dont wanna go this agressive

(the pic has his fenders pulled a bit)

i mean, even if you don't wanna have an agressive stance like the pics i posted, your fenders have about an inch of fenderness that protrudes into the wheel well that can potentially cut up or rub any tire with a wheel set up thats an inch away from your fenders (pretty broad).

as far as your choice for wheels and tires, those tire specs aren't for the 240sx, and the wheel specs don't show offset (which should be the determinant of the purchase). call up the company that sells the wheels and ask them what the offsets on the wheels are. If they are anywhere under +20, i'd say go for it. The thing is, nowadays, more and more japanese cars are rockin wheels with a higher offset (like +40 and higher) i.e. lexus is300, s2000... etc, so chances are they might be intended for those applications, especially since the tire specs look like theyre for hondas.

and about the nexxan tires, I've never driven on them, but all the reviews I've heard on nexxan were'nt good.

If you want decently priced high performance tires, search for a tire company called Federals. My buddy got a full set of 18" federal-595 tires for like $230 brand new from http://citytireonline.com/

anyways, if you wanted my wheel & tire advice on a 17x8/9, I'd go with 17x8 +10 with 215/45/17 & 17x9 +15 225/45/17 (which is the setup I have)

According to the Performance Plus website, the Sportmax 006 has an offset of 35.

well, I know for a fact that they offer more offset option than just a +35. but anyways, +35 on a 8/9 won't be that bad. To give you a visualization, stock wheels are a 6.5" +40, so take into consideration that the wheels your considering will be 1.5" and 2.5" wider, and sit about 5-10mm more toward the fenders (ugh.. i dont wanna do the math right now)... but hopefully you'd get the idea

Thanks adrian.

Should go for 205 40 17 FRONT 17 X 8 235 40 17 BACK 17 X 9

215 40 17 FRONT 17 X 8 <-- like yours.235 40 17 BACK 17 X 9

205 45 17 FRONT 17 X 8 235 45 17 BACK 17 X 9

215 45 17 FRONT 17 X 8 235 45 17 BACK 17 X 9

Also, what is the biggest tire I can go all around (non-staggered) with out sacrificing steering?

Thanks again man. This would entail a bit of money for me... so I maybe being overly cautious.
