Well as for the legalization if you bring a skyline over MotoRex will legalize your personal skyline to the tune of about $25K, I thought I had always heard they kinda had a cornered market somehow on the skyline as everyone I have EVER read about being sold somehow someway came through them. I have yet to get over to the guy in aberdeen MD to talk to him about the skylines he had that supposedly went through crash test and a silvia but hopefully soon.

As for the Jeeps they get away with them because of mailtrucks and quite frankly my father is a postmaster and one of his carriers had to show proof of being a mailcarrier to buy one. The only way you can own a RHD vehicle her in the states legally as far as I know is if there is NO exact corresponding model to it, but that is just from info I read on one site, when I was looking about getting a J spec silvia. In other words you can't import a 93 RHD RX-7 and legalize it without converting to LHD, I could be wrong but this is what I remember reading on a gov't site somewhere.

Matt when you find the magic trick let me know so i can cruise there with you in my S15 fresh off the boat.

Hopefully Nissan will wisen up and make a R35 and a S16 available here in the states and this time not a torquey truck engine, no offense to those KA-T fans. I love my S14's they great but unfortunately I am not loaded enough to pay a shop to do everything for me and not talented enough for a SR swap in my driveway.

-RHD is not illegal to drive or own as long as the car its in is legal :)

-Only way to get a legal skyline is through motoRex or RBmotoring (go check the federal registered importers list if you want proof)

-Illegally registering a car will carries very stiff penalties.

-Anything over 25 years old can be imported

Danke

Post Script - Matt, you were close to calling me out there, inverse your numbers however. I'm actually 23 and have paid my way through 5 years of college to receive a BS in mechanical engineering and a BA in physics.. Thanks though guy.. Keep up the good work.

$3000/4000 over 6 years = ~18K-24K minus taxes + other expense.. Enjoy your skyline!

it's not that hard to get other cars in the U.S. the reason motorex can legalize skylines is because they hold patenet on 5 mph bumpers and supports and other stuff like tempered glass that is needed to pass DOT. my 180sx was brought in and was out of customs in a week. but before you attempt to bring a car over make sure you have extra money just in case. the only thing i can say is money talks and good luck on the project.

check this out, how about you give me some money and i'll find you a good deal on a skyline (R32,33,34, GTS-T, GTR, GTS4) plus my fee and i'll ship it to you... go through Motorex like everyone else and pay them the $15,000 to legalize it or the other option is find one on EBay already in the states and buy it.

i paid 6000 but it came without a motor also it took me about half a year to just find the car. most 180s in japan are either wrecked or auto so it is hard to find a straight body five speed. but my 180 can never be registered unless i do it illegal.
