is it possible to make my left hand drive 240sx into a right hand drive silvia. i already have a s-15 enginge on the way should arive in about a week. but i was wondering if i could do some sort of conversion so that it would be a right hand drive car so it would be more like a real silvia

If you get a clip, saw out the RHD firewall then weld it into where your current LHD firewall is. Swap everything to the other side...

Well, depending on what he is going to use it for, it might be cooler than LHD. If hes not going to be daily driving it, sure, why not? Honestly, I would LOVE to have a nice, clean RHD S13 Silvia K's. Even bone stock. That would be insanely sweet. I must drive a RHD car at some point. Luckily, my friend is considering buying an R33.

what makes you think its any better than driving LHD? You people are strange...its the SAME THING...unless your left handed, then i see RHD making sense.its not cooler just because you can drive on the other side of the car.I'd much rather have a LHD R34 than a Rhd one, lol

I dunno if you guys have Checkers near you, if not it is a Fast Food Drive thru resturant. With 2 drive thrus one on each side. But you can only reach the food on the Right side. If you get a RHD car you can go thru the left lane. That is y i want one

It actually is pretty easy if you have a clip. Just cut out the sheetmetal part of the firewall (not the reinforced part) as shown in that pic, then cut it out of your clip, weld it in. Everything else bolts right in after you swap firewall's. My buddy Rock did it on his S14.1 and he sure gets some crazy looks driving int around Ft Lauderdale. If you buy a clip it won't cost you a cent to do the change since all the parts come with it.

I wanted to do a RHD conversion, but after some discussion with my buddies we concluded on the following:

1. It is an excellent idea for show purposes. It might ean you some extra points with the judges.

2.It is great to see peoples faces when you are driving alone and when you get out of your car at a parking lot.

3. It would be strange for you to be driving with your left hand on the shifter when you are used to it being the other way around.

4. It is an easy swap if you get the clip.

5. Lastly and most important. Why would you want a RHD car when the country you live in is designed specifically for LHD. When you go to a toll booth you have to reach all the way over. A regular drive through (not the crazy Checkers one mentioned earlier) is going to be a pain in the A$$.

Conclusion: It is just not practical.

lmao!! so true!

well back on topic, im an attention whore, and i like when people look at me, so that alone would make it worth it (i know pathetic, but hey!) and im sure i could get used to leaning over, or switching seats if necessary, if i cant, ill just bring someone with me.

Its played out now, if you want originality you have to go with something like Aplines H, with the 1 passenger conversion, and seat and console mounted in center of car, now that playa

I think it would be cool to have that, the attention you woud get would be amazing, but in the end, its just not practical. I wonder how much something like that would cost. And something i am more intrested in is Alpines car, how it costed to do that. Oh well.

You mean Brock.

How do you know him? And yes, he does draw a good deal of attention with that car.

Oh, I don't know him from forums. I met him a couple years back at local car events...and I've never heard anyone call him Rock.

RHD would be cool but like man say, for show is the best reason unless you went wild and dropped a RB26DETT! :)

otherwise, why go through the trouble? i dont see a reason unless you went with a RB because you wouldnt gain anything out of it, just have a nice fab job to swap it out assuming your clip came with a steering rack that wasnt FOOBAR. ya know? just my .02

i'm not too sure, but i think you'd need some sort of special license or permit to drive a rhd vehicle on the public streets?

/me wonders if mailmen have the option to drive their own car on their routes.

That would make being a mailman almost tolerable.

his name is ROCK that's what it says on his DL and birth certificate. He and I are good freinds, I was riding around in his car tuesday when he picked me up at the airport in FLL after getting back from Dayton (don't ask).

And living with it over here in a LHD world isn't really that dificult.

later,

Paul

Rock would do it for less, if you want I'll put you in touch with him. Plus he's done one already and it looks pretty damn good.

I never knew that you were the Paul he talks about.

It's funny, for almost 2 years now I've been calling him Brock.:rolleyes I didn't see your reply until now, but earlier today I saw him and asked him how he got the sceen name Rock...he laughed and told me that was his name. I still can't believe that for so long I've been calling him something other than his name and nobody...not him or his friends...has ever noticed! If you say Brock aloud, I guess it sounds so close to Rock, it's hard to hear the difference. This will be a story I'll be telling for some time!

And yes, I felt like a dumbarse after that conversation.:thinker
