as i said, an over used term. It used to mean "asian cars" but now that people started making rice pages and what not, its more of a poke and make fun of ANY car that has a wing, or graphics or neon lights or anything people seem to not like.

Sr240 - no problem man, I love that car so much. Its so different. I mean you ask people here what nissan they want, its the usual skyline or silvia, but never a 4 door.

I know they have a couple years of them with different tail lights (like the 180sx with kouki tails) but i believe my friends was a 1989. It is the zenki doe.

I only have one problem with your post.........I disagree that painting your calipers is considered rice. I just installed a 300zx conversion on my S13. Rebuilt calipers on new, cross-drilled rotors with braided steel lines. The rear brakes are stock S13's but I rebuilt the calipers, added cross-drilled rotors and steel lines.

My car is a gloss black coupe that, aside from the brakes, looks bone stock. I think that the yellow calipers add to the car, rather than detract. In my defense, this little bit of "show" does wonders for the car and looks far better than a goofy body kit and big wing ever could........

I guess what I'm getting at is that everyone has their own opinion of what rice is. I would say that if it's tasteful than it isn't rice, but who is to say what tasteful is? Apparently my painted calipers are rice to some, but not all...........

Lol. I love posts like this. I'm sure that most people would agree with me that "blingin' on 18's" in a stock civic sedan with painted rear drum brakes is probably considered rice.

I guess it's the context of the situation. In my example, I meant people painting calipers to disguise them as performance calipers, being that aftermarket calipers are usually a different color.

In your situation, I would agree that is not rice.

ya know, i dont have a problem with hondas, from an engineering stand point they're really good cars. they can definitely handle their own in their little hinda world so i wont bash on them. i just think rice is when someone puts all sorts of ridiculous and useless stuf ON theire car instead of performance-enhacing stuff on their engines. but to each his own. show cars are a different story, they're supposed to look that way. but when you get 'show cars' out there revvin up at street lights, that's just dumb.. and you become a ricer. my 2 cents...

well, I say some people, if you want to call them ricers, do that rev thing at stop lights or opposite directions or try to race on the free way. I usually get this from hondas, and I get this from some high powered cars.

any car can become "rice". I just think its bad taste. I dont think having stickers on your car is rice. done in good taste and represent what you have is kool.

but a mugen sticker on a nissan is crap. I dont think having a Nismo sticker/ strip doesnt make you a ricer or you car rice.

I dont think Fwd cars are rice either. some people automatically think so, but hey, there are also fwd nissans. people bash hondas left and right. well, have 2 hondas (so i'm not bias kuz i have nissan and mazda too), but I've seen some pretty fast hondas out here. I went to a honda-tech.com meeting and almost every car was turboed.

now you might get some guys thinking they know everything or are influenced by Fast and the Furious, but I dont worry bout that. that's there deal. I worry more of my car and how I'm gonna hook it up. He spends money on his car, i spend money on mine.I'm not gonna be one of those guys that talk sh/t when my car isnt running or is bone stock.
