Did you over torque the lugs?
Something similar happened to me too but it wasn't really my fault, previous owner used a impact wrench and stripped 17 out of the 20 studs. I was on my way to school when 3 of the lugs fell off on my front left wheel  What surprises me is you said you put new studs and lugs

Yeah man was doing about 45...The rim is fine but the qp is pretty much f**ked. Hard to see in the pics but its pulled out a lot and bent all to hell. the exhaust is done to...Have my new blast pipe for the ka-t anyways so no big deal there.

Time for rear overs i guess.

Just shoot me pics when u get them out, ill make the drive back up and pick them up asap.

Yup new Nismo 60mm studs and mot lugs put on 2 days ago... I know everything was done right ( or so i think) I really cant put my finger on what could of happened other then maybe i hit a bump making the wheel catch the lip of the qp and locking it up casing the lugs to strip and stud to snap :gotme

Dang that sucks.
Were you using large spacers?

I heard that Nismo studs are stock strength, just longer, so having large spacers could've stressed it out and caused it to break.

Yup unless they sent me the wrong ones...in that case wouldn't the other wheels be doing the same thing?

Damn sucks... Could of been worse and you could of wrecked the 240..

Atleast that didn't happen. Few dollars in studs again, but you don't have a salvaged car...

Lucky!

^ LOL. ;)

You guys got some enemies or something?? Seems weird that your wheel would just fall off. :ohno: Something isn't right there. It would be nice to find the root cause of it so it doesn't happen again to you or somebody else.

I am glad you are safe which is the most important thing. Cars are material things in the end considering how much we Love them.

.... looks like i might need a new wheel now. got off work today and started to take everything back apart and see what was wrong or find a cause to see why it would have happened...

Looks like the lugs started to grind away at the wheel. its hard to explain but ill see if i can get some picture up in a bit.

So lets just add that onto the list of parts i need after the fact...

4 new studs - $25
New lugs - $50-100
rear over fenders - $320
one new wheel. - $150-200
New rotor - $20

Gah it all just keeps adding up now, I didn't think it was going to be all that bad but now that im getting into it, It needs a lot more work then i thought...

Did you use the correct type of lugnut for your wheel type?

daaaam. You had to have used the wrong lugnuts or something. I have had my extended studs for maybe 3 years and no problems, and thats with a decent sized spacer too to clear coils. But from the pic of the back of the wheel, it looks like the wheel wasnt fit for it and grinded the stud.

Um I would check your other wheels asap

ouch man, im assuming u use them turner lug nuts right? i mean there not really a lot of room for anything else bigger in that hole.. i just dont see how that happen unless u over tighten them or left them somewhat loose or they worked their self loose..

just a though, but with them being new lugs, wouldnt they stretch a lil bit from tighen for the first time, idk..

hell they could of also being weak from the start..

i mean i got extended studs in the front, havent had a problem with them but i did make sure they were still tigh afther couple of hours of driving.. but .. :gotme

anyways, now that the holes are screw up, take the wheel to a machine shop n have them make the hole a bit wider for wider lug nuts or something, it probably be cheaper than buying another wheel.. n u wouldn't have to use the turner lugs anymore..

Yeah no need to buy new wheels. Take them to a wheel shop and have them press fit inserts. I plan on having it done to my wheels.

Yep, wrong lugs.

I can't believe you didn't feel a shake or shimmy before it ripped loose.

I did feel a bad shake all of 10 secs before the wheel came off. i was slowing down and then snap i see the wheel going by me.

there tuner lugs...pretty sure they are the right one's

A. The "acorn" lugs will not fit into the hole.
B. The other 3 wheels are fine
C. xxr says to use tapered seat lugs AKA what on there.

I don't know, im really sick of dealing with this car and dumping $ into it when i wont be getting it back. Its always something new and really never ends. Thinking about just getting ride of it and picking up something cleaner and not so f**ked up.
