RHD is never worth it when you live in a LHD country. There are virtually no performance benefits and it is a huge pain in the a** simply for the sake of novelty.

If you got the time and skill to do it, it maybe fun to do. If you dont, and its a daily driver then no. It would become a PITA.

Hood release, fuel door, RHD BMC wiper motor, everything to do it right... Cost.... a lot unless you get a deal on a front clip cut to the rear seat.

It's a whole clusterphuck of work for virtually no benefit except just to be able to say you did it.

And when you tell most ppl that you did it, they'll give you an incredulous look and ask "WHY?!"

imo converting a lhd to a rhd is such a waste of money and resources that could be better spent on some preformance enhancemets for the engine or chassis .

simmode1 man you always have the best advice for me man lol. The only reason why i was thinking of doing it is because my friend had a rhd clip he wanted to get rid of for couple hundred bucks. And i was just wondering if it was worth it. IM still hanging on the answer but i never did a conversion on top of that dont know how to relocate the steering colum.

Don't do it. You don't sound like you have no idea what you're getting into or what you'll need.

this is a waste of time conversion. if you badly want one, might as well get a RHD from japan.

+1 To buy rhd from japan.

if it's that good of a deal and the clip has an sr20, maybe look into a engine swap?

but yes its a pain in the a$$ to build unless you have all the parts (and i mean damn near everthing)

back to topic... if your are doing a silvia or 180sx replica it would totally be worth it if you ask me. or if you have the money just get one shipped over. since the 240 passed safety up to 98 you can do that but good luck if you wand the s15

There are some benefits to RHD vs LHD that nobody has mentioned; you can scare the crap out of unsuspecting people driving next to you with a passenger and a fake steering wheel, the steering rack and brake master cylinder are on the other side AWAY from the turbo, so you can run a nice big turbo and not have to worry about heat shielding or running into the steering, you can run the digital climate control without tons of mods, and it's unique in the US. We had a RHD 280ZX in our family since 1985, my bro owns it now, and it has always been cool to ride/drive in.

BTW, if you want to do a RHD swap in an S13, I've got left overs from a front clip for sale to do it. Dash is mint, everything is pretty much there to do the swap properly. I'll let it go for a real good price!

I thought of that turbo issue. I'm really interested in the VQ30DET s-chassis swap. But it's turbo manifold occupies the same space are the USDM 240's steering linkage. A RHD car wouldn't have this problem, as you say. But I could either go through all the hassle of converting my car the RHD correctly or I could just have a new manifold fabbed up. I think I'll take whichever is easier.

As for the digital climate control... yes, that certainly is pimp and I want it. But someone here on already NICO figured out how to do that in our LHD cars...

So, RHD projects remains needlessly & prohibitively difficult work for very little gain, IMO.

i would say find another 240 shell and swap it to a RHD, RHD swaps take some time. and you have to know what your doing on them. if not there a pain!! believe me i have one and now im selling it. i dont want it! ill just have to buy one thats already swapped completely or buy a legit one!

Well guys i found a place that is gonna do the conversion for me for $ 1,000. I would buy the clip from the guy but i dont have the time to swap it over. So hes gonna swap it to rhd in 2 days which i can manage going to work with the bus. I know their are other things i can spend a grand on. But i already have suspension and wheels, and j30 brakes for now. Im waiting for my tax return to buy a 350 short block for my 240. But i think its a really good deal. The whole conversion, with labor and all the parts.

i've done research and part of getting a car shipped over is having a usdm car with the same or similar chasis code that has passed crash tests. so know not fail. now stop being an elitest prick. also rhd has a better weight distribution from side to side. the s13/14s were designed to be right hand drive.

I don't know might be kind of tough. Plus wouldn't it be kind of awkward, rolling around with RHD in the US?

I require proof of this. I've always heard that LHD has better wieght distribution since the driver is placed opposite of the gas tank/fuel system...
