Awkward, stupid and dangerous. My girlfriend caused heavy damage to a rental car (LHD) when she drove it with years of experience on RHD cars.

Hopefully when OP realizes how expensive and pointless is to do the conversion, he will back out. Just get some body kit if you want to look special and not stupid. Or wait couple years till you get older and wiser.

the conversion is pointless, a lot of people half a** it too, like leaving the e brake where it is, making it very awkward to use.

i would say to get a shell or a dirt cheap 240 if you wanna do a RHD conversion. that way you dont risk quitting in the middle of the conversion/run out of money if you do it on your current car.but like everyone else said, it's kinda pointless.you may even get s*** thrown your way good sir...unless it has an sr..then you might be ok

It is cool? Why? I have been to Great Britain, Singapore and Cyprus and I did not find it cool at all. I thought why the hell the wheel was on the wrong side ??

But anyways, your car, your insurance money.

(I would expect RHD conversion being illegal in Cali)

Cars that come RHD are soooo liek omg JDM!!

Cars converted to RHD just maked you a baller, and maybe a wittle bit JDM

But thats just my opinion, and another thing is that you should only do a RHD conversion if you have everything performance wise done to your car that you want. As i say again, performance>looks.

So, you are still thinking about it?...

Go for it! You only live once.... What the hell, don't be a p*ssy!!! If it sucks, who cares... At least you will regret for something that you had the balls to do, not for something that you didn't dare to. Go for it!

...but consider yourself warned.

I require proof of this. I've always heard that LHD has better wieght distribution since the driver is placed opposite of the gas tank/fuel system...
actually it turns out we were both told the wrong the thing. Cross weight is usually measured as a percentage of the total weight of the car. Take the following weight distribution as an example:Left front: 750 lbs. Right front: 700 lbs.Left rear: 700 lbs. Right rear: 750 lbs.

The cross weight is simply the left rear/right front (diagonal) weight divided by the total weight of the car and multiplied by 100 to make it a percentage. In this case, the cross weight is:

[ (2 * 700) / (2 * 700 + 2 * 750) ] * 100 = 48.3 %

Cross weight will not change left bias or front bias weight distribution. Using the example above, you can see that front bias is 50% ((750+700)/(750+700)), and left bias is also 50%. Assume you decrease cross weight to 46.6 % with the following settings:Left front: 775 lbs. Right front: 675 lbs.Left rear: 675 lbs. Right rear: 775 lbs.

The front bias and left bias are both still 50%.i did the research and its evens out both ways

I plan on doing this conversion when I buy my clip later this year. It is not my daily driver. And I'm only doing it to set my car apart and I do not want to have a real one shipped over from japan because at this moment I don't need another car around or in my garage so I'm converting the one I have when I get my front clip. And they are right there isn't much of a benefit to doing it and it is alot of work but me and my friend are doing it all ourselves and we think it was just be a fun job to say ya we've done it. If I don't like it I'll sell it and buy a LHD one again. OP any updates on yours? I know you said someone you know is doing it? are you going to the shop he is doing it at at taking pics or helping him anything? If you are LMK i might ask you a few questions when we start tearing into mine to start it.

Just my .02 here. I live in Canada. Lots of RHD vehicles here. There's this awesome law here that allows any vehicle 15 years or older into the country.

Anyways, from what RHD vehicles I've driven... its a pain. From passing on the highway, drive thrus and other crap you really don't wanna have to deal with.

Only reason I've ever found it worth it is in Skylines and other cars that don't exist in LHD form.

Other then that, stay away from the RHD. Its not worth it.

I own a RHD in canada and it really is not a pain as people describe.

I believe it is just huge stigma, Driving carefully like you should be and there really not many issues.

You have mirrors on both sides of the car that are available to you to use, you are 2 feet over in the car, it is not as crazy as people think.

If you want to try it out go ahead, I went with RHD because I really did not want to deal with another rusted out s-chassis, the sr20 is a bonus when really I just wanted a clean shell.

It does not seem like what other people say will sway you so you might as well just go ahead and get'r done.

i dont why people hate on converting to rhd...i mean its the owners car so let him be....plus just and fyi bro if you really dont have that kind of skill to pull the rhd convo off then maybe you should have someone else do it...but when i converted my car i did it for under 200 thats including the clip, welder, and seam sealer...and please and i mean please make sure you take the whole firewall out!! dont just cut out the pieces you need because it will look like crap.. if you want to look up my thread just search my name...oh and i've been building my car for years its been converted for the longest time but im in college and i have been putting cash in it here and there.
