What's the sleekest looking, sexiest, most awe inspiring and menacing revolver you've seen? I'm looking to get a revolver now instead of the semi-auto....

The DE isn't a magnum cartridge. Get one of these Smith&Wesson 500 Magnum Last I heard it was THE biggest and most powerful handgun in the world. And now they even have a gun with a 4" barrel that shoots this round! I held the big one...didn't get to shoot it though.

Edit:They list this as one of the selling points. "A Hunting Handgun For Any Game Animal Walking"

that may be too big for him.

I held one the other day, it's freakin' monster.

The Taurus Tracker in the weird blueish Titanium finish is really really nice.

or you can get the ever awesome Colt Python.:drooling

any S&W is a good choice though, so long as it's a newer one.

I've got one of the older N Frames (I can't remember the exact years, but they were known for having a weaker frame, this is early 80's though mind you) It's the awesomeness regardless. 4 inch barrel with a nickel finish.

Ruger also makes some nice revolvers.

What's the intented use of the gun first though?

oh, you'll always want something else:D I do, but I still love everything I've got.

Casull .454 gets my vote.

EDIT: can't get a pic due to firewall at work, but it's a big, mean SOB with a 5-round magazine, 3" barrel if I remember correctly, nickel finish, hits like a freight train.

Well he said awe inspiring...so I think that the Smith takes the cake on that one. I held one too and it is a monster!

I'm 5'10" and 135lbs. I can only bench press 160lbs and overall I'm about average strength. I looked at the S&W 500, and that thing would be TOO big for me.

My intended use? To be a badass.

yeah, way too big.

the most I'd go is a .44 mag, and at your size it'll still be a bear.

I'd recommend the .357 for you, recoil is very mild, and it'll go through most any car door or obstacle, can be used on deer, and makes for a very good carry round. .44 mag is really to big for carry if overpenetration is a concern (it really really should be)

I'd recommend a 4 inch Python in Nickel or Stainless.

the vent rib on it makes it look gorgeous. not to mention it's one of the most accurate production handguns ever, it's in the league of the awesome Sig P210 and even shoots a better round:D

it'll probably run a grand or more though.

I'm thinking about the Colt King Cobra .357 magnum.

Although this is the 500 in action.

the King Cobra is a very good choice too, it's just not gonna shoot like a Python, they look similar if memory serves me though.

that's me with a S&W model 29, the 500's "little brother"

bear in mind I'm 6'4" and around 300 pounds.

I want a revolver with a 6" barrel or more... mostly for aesthetics though.

go no more then 6.

if you do, you probably won't be able to shoot it as good due to the barrel being to heavy. This is offhanding and assuming you might have grip trouble and keeping the big bastards steady.

That Smith is my uncle's, he had a 6 incher too (blued with the walnuts, just like Dirty Harry's:D) he sold it because he couldn't shoot it for **** though.

I've used my friend's S&W .357 magnum, I've forgotten what model it was. I did fairly good with it. Had a 6" barrel and I felt pretty confident. Hit the target from 30ft dead on. I liked it a lot.

But that S&W is looking mighty appealing. Too bad I'd probably hit myself in the head with it.

*drool* Now who wants to explain to me how the barrel can be at the bottom and still work?

probably a 19 or whatever they call it now...

K frame.

you should get your hands on a Python, or a 29 :drooling

revolvers are typically more accurate then autos out of the box anyway.

I sent a powerade bottle flying over the trees with the 29:D it's an awesome gun to shoot, I personally don't find it uncomfortable to shoot, even with the outdated Pachymar Decellarators on it.

as far as carry goes, I'd use a hot .44 Special load in it.

how old are you anyway?

perhaps you should go to a shop or range and look into renting a few of the fine specimens mentioned?

I'm 18 years old and been looking/saving for a gun for several years now. My friends think I'm too dangerous as it is and I don't need a gun... but you know never hurts to have one.

depends.

it's not something to wave around and try dumb tricks with, granted, I enjoy spinning the Single actions like a movie cowboy, it's not the best idea and don't ever ever try that with a double action or an auto, good way to shoot yourself or someone right there.

it's also not something for a person with a lack of self control.

I think I'd have to manslap a person to death given the chance if they're stupid enough to kill a person over a comment or funny look.

probably for a fist fight too.

Like a screwdriver, a gun is a tool too, it's just some people turn them the wrong ****in' way.

not dangerous as in I'm a hotheaded person. But dangerous as in, I can handle myself very well on the street, I never step back from a challenge and or threat. I'm just a generally lethal person. =( never really wanted that to happen. It is just something that occured over the years and years and years of training.

ah.

a gun always helps though. Better to have and not need then to need and not have.

I say you save till your 21 and get a nice 4 inch Polished Stainless Python Elite. So sexy and incredibly accurate. Like under an inch groups at 25 yards.

You're going to have to change your thinking completely before you get a gun. Heaven forbid you should EVER shoot someone. If you ever do, here's what's gonna probably happen: Some jerk is going to say something stupid to you. You'll come back with a witty comment that makes him look just as dumb as he really is. The people around will laugh at him. He'll get pissed and want to fight. He'll probably throw a haymaker at you and miss entirely. You'll beat him up and hurt his pride. Next he'll pull a weapon on you (knife, stick, whatever). You'll recognize that as an opportunity to draw your gun and shoot him.

You may or may not kill him, but you WILL go to jail. Not maybe, but you'll go to jail, guaranteed. Here's why: You did not retreat when you had a chance to. You allowed the situation to escalate rather than making peace or simply walking away. The law will not allow you to use deadly force in self-defense if it looks like you could have left the situation. Not to mention that you have a reputation among your friends (and enemies) as not running away from confrontation. That will be used against you in your trial.

Anytime you shoot or even draw a gun, they (legal system, cops, victim, bystanders, etc) are going to try and make you the bad guy. Take a Conceal Weapon Permit course and learn all of the scrutiny that you'll have to go through as a gun owner. You'd be better off killing someone while driving drunk than threatening someone with a gun, not to mention actually firing the weapon! That's no exaggeration.

I know this is a long post and I'm not trying to preach to you about gun control. I think everyone should have and carry a gun. It levels the playing field. Just make sure you have the right mindset and self control before you get one.

I mean I literally had to scrape the stuff off my skin with a spork.

I want a gun because 1. Yes they are badass. 2. Not for self-defense, if some cracknut pulls a knife, stick, or something equally blunt or sharp on me, I can and will disarm and beat him to kingdom come (From DC comics, coming out soon everyone should go buy). If he pulls a gun out on me, well then I give up. 3. Target shooting, probably the best past time ever. 4. Hunting, this will be fun with a revolver. =)

So... yeah. I'm not an idiot. Idiot's don't type with a 95% grammatically correct prose.

I never thought you were an idiot. But I may  have gone overboard on the post. :) I do have some friends who would start trouble if they had a gun rather than being responsible enough to avoid the situation. I didn't catch the sarcasm in your post.

nah, someone pulls a knife or a large stick, just shoot there ***. or when it's three or more people.

And buy In the Gravest Extreme by Massad Ayoob.

You may jump through more hoops over self defense shootings, well maybe, it just depends of the situation. If someone pulls a knife on you for the purpose of robbing or merely intimaditing you, well, their stupid and deserve to get shot.

Just don't look for trouble, but don't show fear in the face of trouble.

they're a last resort.

oh, try shooting raw strands of spaghetti:D fun times, stick it in the ground and chop it down.
