Just joining the party for this, but I have done a headunit upgrade on my parents 6th Gen Accord, but within a few months I will be going to college and I will be taking the Rogue with me to college, and I cannot afford the OEM Navi to crash on me when I need it and I don't have unlimited data plan. So would this headunit work the SL trim?
Should do, but MX tron will be happy to help with any questions and they answer pretty quick, the new unit is a lot more powerful too now!

Do you have the step by step instructions on how to remove the OEM HU for the Rogue/X-trail?

First page should get you enough info, its really not hard at all. Pop the passenger side plastic cover off, unscrew the airvent, pop it out, then pop the plastic right cover off etc etc..

We have a 15 Rogue SL AWD with the Factory Nav. My Wife loves the 360 camera and uses it frequently which has caused the paint to wear off that button, instead of saying "Camera" it has a bare spot in the middle where its white. Tried going through Nissan to cover this under warranty and they said no way and that its excess wear and tear. The car has 25,000 miles on it and my Wife has taken really good care of it inside and out so I really want to fix this. I can get a 2016 radio identical to it on eBay for under $300.

My questions are: Is it plug and play to swap the navigation radio's or does it involve dealer programming and everything? Then will a 2016 radio work in a 2015? The 2016 models added Siri Hands Free technology to the bluetooth. It would be awesome if that feature carried over as we would definitely get good use from it, but I don't want to spend the money if it isn't going to work.

This is our 3rd Rogue, they have been great cars, I just installed a new set of Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires and have totally transformed the ride/handling of the car, so much more fun to drive and smoother than the Dunlop's it came with.

These units need to be properly configured for your car options (Bose/non-Bose, AVM/camera settings, etc.), so if you buy it from eBay it may not work properly right after the installation. 2016 radio has the same hardware but comes with a newer software version, so I believe that Siri functionality should work.

Has anyone done this on a 2017? I just picked up a SV with factory NAV. The factory setup kinda sucks. How well does this integrate with your phone? Can you voice respond to texts? Use steering wheel controls to answer phone calls?

Controls work for phone calls. not sure about the voice response to texts as since I installed it there is a new better version so if anyone has experience with that go ahead and shout out, I'm still happy with my one and its not had a fault since the day I installed it.

Pretty much standby my comments, great product, showing its age a little in terms of limited space to install stuff, but as there is a newer version out with more ROM, that problems solved. I still love the product and its not gone wrong. So far everything's kept up to date, Waze, Netflix, YouTube with no problems. Over the two years its froze once and all I had to do was hit the reset button, pretty bullet proof (although saying that now makes me worried if I've just cursed it!). Its still got the original protective plastic on the screen I never removed, so top marks for good protective plastic too!

Hello, I have 2016 Rogue SV without Nav. I want to get this but afraid of the loading time. Will the system need to be completely booted up before the backup camera to work? I'm just afraid to have to wait 20 to 30 seconds every day before backing out of the garage. Thanks!

The rear camera works within 5-6 seconds, it doesn't need to load the android image to work, its a hardware switch to rear camera. the only thing is the little yellow/green/red guide lines arent there until its fully loaded, but camera is on within seconds.

Hi all. I've just installed a new MXTRON unit in my 2016 SL (i.e. with Bose). Everything is working fine EXCEPT that there is a crackling sound from the speakers that gets mostly covered up with music, but is annoying if the volume is low or if listening to talk. I contacted MXTRON and they think it might be an issue with the interaction with the Bose amp, which they don't have much experience with. Any ideas?

Could be, I don't have the amp on my car, but i guess it could be interfering. I would check all the earths and connections and at worst case maybe bypass the amp to check if it really is that. You could also try rewiring the amp to the preout provided on the unit to see if that gives a better sound as its designed to go to a amp without internal boost. Also check that your antenna adapter is in properly as that can cause earthing issues too.

So. I ended up installing a ferrite coupling on the wire to the amp, at the suggestion of MXTron. They said they don't have a lot of experience with the Bose system. I'd say it's about 90% fixed. I can live with it.

I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue SV with a navigation Bose headunit. I would like to get appleplay. I want to keep the birds eye view for the cameras. I’ve seen wiring kits for Nissan car stereo units but it doesn’t specially say you keep all four cameras in operation. What’s the easiest fix to have my cake and eat it too? Aftermarket head unit or try and upgrade OEM that has CarPlay and streaming Bluetooth and keeps all the camera views? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

An OEM unit will not be compatible with your vehicle. Not to mention being more expensive and generally inferior to any decent aftermarket unit.

AFAIK, MXTRON is currently the only company that sells an aftermarket unit that supports the birds-eye view camera system.

Hello everyone! Recently just purchased my 2017 Rogue SV AWD. Love the car and its been pretty cool for the past week. The one thing that is kinda killing me is the head unit. It seems pretty archaic for what the Rogue offers.

  • I was wondering if there's any Headunits that you guys could recommend?
  • Would said unit be plug & play?
  • Is there any reports/diagrams that show the tear down of the center console? All the videos ive seen have been 2016 models that come with the plastic clip that allows access to the headunit with simple tear down. On my 2017, its a seamless blend on the dash so Im kinda lost on where i would go.
Thank you guys for the support. 1st post and I'm really excited to see what I can get out of the Rogue

Has anyone found a way to retain the Bird View Camera on the Nissan Rogue. I'm currently looking to replacing my head unit with an aftermarket b/c I'm not liking the stereo and navigation unit that my car comes with. Since mine is the 2017.5 Nissan Rogue SV, I don't get the apple carplay which is kinda stupid, when they only added the feature on the 2018 model. The head unit I'm looking for is either Kenwood or Pioneer, which has the ability to help retain the surround view camera system. The only problem comes in is the wiring diagram for the 2017 head unit or what it looks like from the rear. I found out that asian aftermarket manufacturers found a way to retain the system, just not the MOD or Moving Object Detection part of the vehicle, which to me might be separate system from the head unit itself. However, they managed to do this to the Nissan X-Trail with a Kenwood. (https://etoni.com.my/products/Nissan-X- ... pgrade/252) I tried asking the company but... they didn't reply back to me. The Nissan X-trail and Qashai are quite similar to Rogue and Rogue Sport, but the issue is the wiring of the head unit. I encountered the wiring used that can help retain the surround view camera, https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aerpro-CHNI9C- ... 4902.l9144. Now the main issue is that I don't know what the rear wiring looks like. So has anyone tried this and know a pic of what the rear wiring looks like for the 2017 Nissan Rogue SV without Bose.
