As for restaurants...I rarely have issues with kids there. The last time I had a complaint about people at a restaurant it was two adults: a mid-20s couple having a loud, vehement argument in the next booth.
You don't have movie pubs where you live?
We have Cinetopia, 16 bucks per ticket for a lazyboy and no goddamn babies.
And a bunch of movie pubs where they serve alcohol and screen slightly older movies and it's a lot cheaper.

My experience has been quite the opposite, actually. :)

More like "You're double-bagging it tonight, sweetie."

Lies.
:rotfl

I agree with the restaurant owner, maybe he'll get an upswing in business from patrons.

i agree completely. and this is definitely off topic, but why doesn't logic apply to smokers? why aren't restaurant owners and bar owners permitted to allow smoking in their establishments? if people don't like the smoke, go somewhere else. sorry, pet peeve of mine.
Vote with your dollar, boycott all the restaurants that don't allow smoking inside.

Unfortunately, Nanny State made that decision for everyone already.

I suppose it was "Nanny State" that also banned asbestos? DDT? Drunk driving? Come on, let go of some of that naked capitalism ideology in favor of common sense, Jesda. Second-hand smoke is toxic. Exposure to it over long periods of time is unquestionably unsafe. Consumers have much more of a choice in where they eat than employees have in where they work. Someone should never have to make a choice between being unemployed or working someplace where they are forced to be exposed to toxic substances without personal protective equipment. And it's not like restaurant owners would provide gas masks for the wait staff.

meh.

not really a big deal. Its the owners prerogative to do what the heck they want

I don't really take my little (little) ones out to anywhere other than a Red Robin, Freindlys etc.

I try to clean up after them. However I always leave a HUGE tip for the server.

My opinion though, is that the kids need to learn to act in social situations (like dinner out), if they're not exposed, they won't learn whats acceptable. Again, this falls back on the parents to instill good values.

Absolutely. Growing up we were taught how to behave in public and we knew the "belt" was coming if we ever acted up. Those early experiences of etiquette at nice restaurants served me well at corporate functions.

When we became parents our son acted up in a restaurant a total of once. I took him out to the car and we sat out there while the rest of the family and relatives stayed in and enjoyed their meals. He never did it again, mainly because he knew there were consequences for bad behavior.

Our girls haven't mainly because their big brother has confirmed we are not kidding.

Big pet peeve of mine to. So you want to tell me i cant even smoke outside the place or on the sidewalk??? ( around here its 25ft from any building) Its a load of crap if you ask me, your saying i cant own a store and smoke in or tell people they can smoke in it? on top of that im one of those friendly smokers. if i see a family or gropes of small kids walking by i try to walk another way or not blow smoke on them....

As for the kids....i say keep them out of any sporting bar/food establishment, or anywhere that is targeted more for mature people

I have no clue why Kmart don't do the same with latino families, their children play freely in the store and clothes and goods everywhere ended on the floor. The rule of no belt of stick in the butt should be banned so children will "understand" faster what behaving in a restaurant or at any other place means.

The funny thing about the news, is that is assumed that children over 6 do behave, I must visit that restaurant with the teenagers of my family, after that their age limit might be increased to adults only... :chuckle:

i have an 8 month old and i see people walk into places with like 4-5 kids and they are running around and screaming.... it makes me sad that my 8 month old is better than older children. i think it all depends on how much parent immerse their children in public from the beginning. We take our child everywhere so he knows that stores don't allow crying hahah but really i agree with the store owner.. when we get date nights and go to a restaurant we don't want to hear kids screaming the whole night... however airplanes.. we shall see... never been on a plane with a small child.. monday we are returning to the states for a month... i'm praying everyone doesn't hate us because of our kid.
