My radiator fan is in BAD shape. I see several cracks that look like it could go any week now. My question is if anyone has ever just taken off the fan and removed it (and the fan shroud) from the belt system and replaced it with electric fans?

I did it with my old 89 240 and it actually lowered my temps slightly but I wasn't sure if the Q relied on a fan like that to keep it cool. If I could get rid of it entirely that sure would give me a lot more room for other goodies to throw in my engine bay...

I think it would be a good investment, free up some H/P and maybe increase mileage a bit. I think a fan that flows 3000CFM at minimum would be needed. I think Black Magic makes a "S" bladed fan with an integrated shroud and thermostat that flows 3300 cfm for about $300.

I've thought about this myself, I'd like to see some dyno numbers.

It's been done. Here are a couple old threads on the subject:

The stock fan with the viscous clutch works jus' fine, but an electric conversion frees up some valuable room.
