Rails are corroding and start to "play", but this is only comfort thing on slow driving. On hi-speed does not sound at all. And usually safe to drive. This is common for BMW and Nissan/ Infiniti after 10 yers of service.

My Infiniti dealer says I need to change my tension rod bushings. I would prefer to change the entire tension rods. I own a 03/93 Q45 (not sure if this is a '93 or '94 model). Can someone give me part numbers and a place to buy these front tension rods? Are the front left and front right the exact same part numbers? Is there such thing as an Active and non-active tension rod? Also, do I need an alignment after replacing the tension rods? I plan to have a local garage install these things to save money.

Thanks,

Call the guys at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com They will know all.

All you need is the bushings if you have a press.

There are differences since they are not adjustable.

I am about to do my tension rods. I have the bushings thinking I can press them in with a ball join press like this http://www.autozone.com/in_our...s.htm .

Nobody talks of using this to press in the bushings, is it because too much force is needed to press them in that these can muster or some other reason?

thanks all

Mine took a lot of juice to press out on a 50 ton press at the parts place I use.I'd just take them in and have them pressed for like $10 or so

I agree... If you donthave the spare car you can just tell them to do it, they shoudlnt charge more than an hour or 2 (2 TOPS) and it shoudl be all good. There isnt much R/R, just 3 bolts.

I forgot to provide the results of replacing my two tension rods with the Revo Racing adjustable ones I got from ebay. My local mechanic installed them but did not adjust or tighten the bolts used to adjust the length of the bars. I then quickly went to Firestone to get a lifetime wheel alignmen and install 4 tires. Since the tension rods are part of the front suspension, the adjusting and tightening of these tension rods are included with the alignment. The ride and handling if firm and the car no longer goes to the right or left when I press on the brake pedals. I will have to wait a few more months to see if the unusual tire wear is resolved by replacing the tension rods. Also, the old bushings looked real bad. These new Revo Racing tension rods has no bushing to wear out. So far I like it. I did not know what to do with the old tension rods, so I threw them away. I also replaced my fan blade, fuel filter, and rubber boots which I bought from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/. They have great customer service and great prices.
