Hey guys, i would like to replace my alt on this 89 of mine, however i'm a bit of a nub with cars and have never done an alt before. I was trying to find some step by step pictures of it done but only found the work with pictures for KA24de, need one for the simple e. Seems there is a difference between engines , so... hehe.

Anyone?

this is kind of a rough guide, just ignore the parts about prepping the quest alt or whatever, unless you use one of course. Fsm comes in handy too.

I changed my alt on my 89 coupe a few weeks ago. Ka24de alts will work with single cams(i used one from a 97 on mine), the terminal and grounding points are different, but that doesn't really matter. Its pretty straightforward its just in a b**** location and might have to get under the car some. Good luck!

Eh, think they're a pain in the a**. I had to change mine in my school parking lot. Remove the air intake, remove fan shroud, loosen alternator tensioner. Whatever you do, DO NOT break the looong alternator bolt.

Its easy. Just look and see whats in the way and get it out of the way... You may have to loosing the long bolt its no big deal. Pay attention to how tight the belt is before you take if off plus if the belts are if they bad just replace them while you are there.
