Everyone says this, but so many people get away with running a maf right at the turbo. I mean his setup worked fine the way it was, i wouldnt change a damn thing till its running right.

I'm still on the fence about this MAF situation. It's something that Scott @ Enthalpy as told me about a couple times now, and I've been having random idle problems since I went turbo which he's attributed to the MAF being virtually right on the turbo. I plan on moving in the next month, tops. I'll post about any difference.

Its Recaro LV, nice but a little dirty. The car has been very neglected.

I don't see what difference it will make moving the maf.

I still want to try the 460's cuz I have them (if they are plug and play)But befor that We will dissasemble the whole ic setup and go threw it and make sure its all proper snuged. That could be the issue because the new setup is such a jumble, mix match of different size hoses and reducers and clamps and all other kinds of stuff.

Maybe after we re-do the ic piping I'll spray some soapy water around each conection to help spot a leak.

This was one of our first theories but we couldn't find a leak.

the air right in front of the turbo is spinning into a vortex. The mafs is supposed to read air when it is traveling straight. That is why there are those screens on the mafs (newer mafs like the z32). They are supposed to help the air travel straight. The further away the mafs and if there is a bend it is harder for the vortex to affect the air until it has passed through the mafs.

everyone has there own opinion on the mafs situation and this i mine....it doesnt mean i right though.

you must be runing a Turbonator, talking about vortex

I just don't see why spinning air and streight air make a difference, its still the same amount of air.

Now if it was trying to read compressed air, I could see the prob.

The way 'nelson8708' said it, it acutally started to make sense to me.

I know that a MAF works by heating air and depending on how much heat and everything it gets a reading of how much air there is. If air is swirling, which it will in high boost, not all of it passes by the element in the MAFS - skewing the reading. It acutally makes sense...

Well if it is high boost that will throw it off we won't have to worry about that. Personley I'd like to see it moved but I don't think steve will do it. Were it sits now it is kind of up against the dizzy.

anyone have a 45* or 90* coupler the want to donate to some broke mo fo's

Im telling you man, swaping the injectors out before you fix the car is a bad move. Fix the car first, then swap the injectors. Deal with one thing at a time or you'll end up with a huge mess real quick.

I'm Ron Burgundy?? No its not from NH, its from Iowa.

I'm not going to change the inj yet. The clips dont match but we might splice the wires if he wants to buy the inj from me.

We went threw all the couplers last night. Some of them were ****, rips tears, some are the single ply cheap-o's. They are all snuged and we lined the pipes up a bit better. We're going to run it up today. I took the advice of moving the maf away from the turbo because of turbulence, check out the pic.

We call it the Snorkle. ya, its sweet

With this friggin car its always one thing after another.

The motor is cranking but won't start. We think it might be the fuel pump because you can't hear it when you turn the key.

At least it is easily accesible. I am thinking we should try a cheap replacement because we are not certain (maybe from Auto Zone).
