SWIFT_DRIFT wrote:prigo if you think you can just put a US vin plate on your jdm fantasy car, then you are an idiot. if you can even get a complete parts car, non-running to be legal, i would be suprised. from there you would have to swap every part feasible into a legal registered LHD chassis. from there it's your choice to do a rhd swap or not, but that would involve cutting up the jdm (OMG) chassis and doing the conversion to your lhd chassis. so in any case you can never have a 100% jdm car that is legal in the US, unless it is a skyline from motorex. tough luck, grow up, and do some research.

My reasoning isn't that it will be totally legal, my reasoning is that if I get railed for driving with all the non-carb stuff, that I will at least have a legal chassis and whatnot.

As for the importing, I have looked into it quite a bit, and I've picked peoples brains about it, and this is about the closest you can get to having a "street legal silvia".

Also, Motorex isn't the only way to get a street legal JDM car over here, former military can, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to gamble 4 years of my life at a SHOT to get a car brought home.

Anyways, a lot of this is ideas, I don't have the money right now, so nothing is happening, I'm having enough trouble paying for school and gas :rolleyes

I would seriously listen to what SWIFT_DRIFT says. I belive that he HAS imported a 180sx from japan and he knows a whole helluva lot more about the process than anybody here including myself.

Also, the only other company that legalizes skylines is owned by the same people who own motorex.

Other cars you hear about being imported (such as toyota soarers, supras, fairlady Z's, Assorted hondas, etc..) have US counterparts with the same motor and body and dont need to go through the same process as skylines.

Yes, I have

Monopolies are illegal. This is why motorex isn't the only company. They may be somehow tied together with rbmotoring, but if these are the only companies that can import a skyline, then they are not owned by the same people. Any one or company that wants to pay for all the legal "red tape" to do this, can.

None the less it is still illegal. If we argue driving cars illegaly then it is pointless. I could rob a bank and be happy as can be if I didn't get caught.
