so my remote came in the mail today... have af ew questions to get answered.

1. i've read a few different methods of proramming it, and tried two or three, but none have worked. some mentioned hearing a beep(?) from the remote. does the remote beep? after how long of holding a button down does it beep, if so?

2. where is the remote reciever thing? someone had mentioned that the reciever had the correct FCC ID on it. is that true?

thanks much

I am not a dealer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night......

What year/model is your car? Are you certain that that FCC code is the right one for your model.

I have a '94 Q, but my FCC code is diferent. It is A269ZJA073

I have th instructions to program it, and I have proved they work. I do not remember a"beep" being involved, but it is in the instructions. Here is the TSB:

TECHNICAL BULLETIN ITB93-068

J30/G20/Q45 Remote Transmitter Programming

Applied Models: 1993-94 J30; 1993.5 G20; 1994 Q45

SERVICE INFORMATION:

The proper procedure for programming additional remote controllers is listed below.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

While sitting inside the vehicle:

1. Open the trunk.2. Close and lock all doors.3. Insert and remove the key from the ignition six (6) times within ten (10) seconds.4. Manually unlock and lock the driver’s door once (1) to enable “setting” mode.5. Push the lock button on the new remote controller once (1), just long enough to hear it beep, within five (5) seconds of completing step 4.6. If additional remotes are needed (up to 3), repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional remote immediately after programming the first remote.

Note: A total of four (4) remotes can be programmed to function on the same vehicle.

For additional information, please refer to page BF-38 of the 1993 and 1994 J30 Service Manuals; page BF-17 of the 1993 G20 Service Manual Supplement; and page EL-148 of the 1994 Q45 Service Manual.

The older infintii remotes beeped when a button was pushed. This feature eventually wears out or works intermittently. The replacement ones, from what I understand, do not have the beep feature. I guess you would have to ignore the part about the beep

Rob has the correct remote...

Rob, just see if your dealer will do it - Most won't charge you.

You may have bought the wrong one :(

well since you say i have the right remote, im prolly just stupid and cant program it(which i wouldnt count out, im a genious sometimes, but super stupid others). would a nissan dealer be able to prgram it for me? because the nearest infiniti dealer is 5-6 hours away while a nisssan dealer is only 1.5 hours

Call 'em first - I don't know about the nissan boys knowing squat, but the Infiniti dealer has a gadget you put the remote onto and then it will check to see if the RF output is allowing all the function to operate properly - It might be worth checking the remote w/fresh batteries first, checking the output w/the intended meter (mail it in to Infiniti ?) and then letting the techs program it as a last resort.

Good luck - and keep trying - my remotes from eBay were perfect -

Mike

Rob..... Unless you have bought a new battery.... Do that first... I got a new one just about a week ago, and it works MUCH better....... The battery may be too weak to even program it, even though it still beeps........!!!!

I got mine at walmart for a buck and a quarter (had to write that one out)

I also got an xxxx...073 from eBay (it was listed as a G20 remote) some time back and it works fine on my 1995 Q with the above programming instructions.

Sure seems like there is some esoteric difference here in remotes!

Rob, My dealership said the remote with the FCC ID: A289ZUA078 would not work on my particular '94. Although, the code might have changed mid-year. There are a bunch of these on eBay, and very few of the FCC ID: A269ZJA073.

Try giving Joe at Scottsdale a call with your Vin #, and verify the correct FCC code.

I got a broken remote with my car, and bought a replacement on eBay. The broken one is broke where the keys hang (it locks and unlocks fine). All the peices are there, and I have tried super glue, but it only lasts about 2 to 3 days, before it breaks, from being in my pocket.

I was successful in programming the new one, but unsuccessful in programming both.

If you are interested, let me know. I can mail it to you to try asn see if this is the FCC code you need, and you can mail it back to me. I don't really want to sell it, but you might want to try it, before making any other decisions. I would like to keep it, for a spare, but don't mind loaning it to a NICO brethren.

I know that both are not compatible with my car, and based on FCC codes, I doubt there are any cars that can use two separate codes, which indicate 2 separate frequencys.

Rob, stop banging you head against that wall. Start looking for the other FCC code. It's out there.

Rob, congrats, on the auction. That is a good price, and the remote looks almost unused. Let us know when you get it working.

I used the directions the Jeff Williams Posted for my factory remotes, but when I program one it deactivates the other. I have not been able to get them to both program by repeating steps 4 & 5.

you have to reprogram both at the same time. repeat the steps that require you to push buttons on the remote.

When I program the first remote, the car alarm starts sounding and does not stop until I push another button. Do I try to repeat steps 4 & 5 while my alarm is going off? Or am I pushing lock button too long because my remotes do not beep?

The car alarm should not sound. You are correct - you are holding down the lock button too long. Just press it normally, listen for the sounds of the lock engaging and let go. That should be sufficient.

FWIW, my remote stopped beeping (it definitely used to!) a long time back and there is, apparently, no known fix. I have asked here on NICO as well as the Infiniti dealer.
