Thanks for keeping the Registry thread to ONLY include the data required....

Let's make our comments in this thread.

My first comment... let's try to get those VIN numbers. I know you have to walk out to the car to get it... But it's very important to the registry so that we can piece the vin history together and help get a bearing on numbers sold, etc.. So please edit your post in the registry thread to include your vin #.

Here's a question... If you pull a carfax report... does the online output stay permanently? I wonder if as a service to the people who sign up for the registry... we could have someone run a carfax and not only provide the info to the owner, but also keep it for our records. Then we could really get some history on those cars... just a thought??

Also... Thanks so much to USCJustice for all his work so far. What a great new member. If noones said it yet... Great to have you here on NICO. Please do stick around!!!

A few more thoughts...

Greg... Can you sticky the Registry thread?Greg... I don't know the capabilities of the NICO server/software, etc... But, is there a way that you can quickly compile a list of all the member's who have posted in the 'vert forum? I can (and will if I need to) go back and scan all the threads in the 'vert forum in order to contact everyone and get them to add themselves to the registry. I know that there are member's who just don't visit very frequently. I would like to get the ball rolling and contact them

To everyone... We are now officially up and running with this. Tell your friends and anyone you can find with a 'vert. For now, just tell them to get on NICO and go the 'vert forum. It will get easier as we build... First we will get a link from 240sxconvertibles.com directly to the Registry thread. The next step is hopefully to get an online submission form built so that they can do it themselves, directly on 240sxconvertibles.com.

Also... it would be cool to be able to publish the output. It would be great for everyone to have the ability to sort and search results...

If anyone else has input, please let us know. Thanks!!!

Seth,

Let me know where you are starting with surfing old forums for people who have Verts, and I'll start at the other end of the spectrum to start with emails out.

Thanks,Donald

I haven't started scanning the forum yet. I was holding out hope that Hitman could print a list of all posters in the forum or something like that.

The next stage is to start scouring ebay, cars.com, autotrader.com, cardomain, etc... to find other 'vert owners. Even if their car is for sale, we can at least get the vin, current owner, etc... then update it when they sell.. heck they might even find that to be a sales tool... reenforce the rarity of the car, etc....

Let's assign someone to check ebay as well - I think you can look at past auctions, and those often have the VIN in them (and owner contact info).

Don and Seth, you guys are doing a KICKA$$ job. Talk about going "above and beyond"!!!

Thank you both.

nice find on those two... let's register the info that's on there... Since they are at dealership's I think there's no point in getting any other info that year, vin, miles..

1.) Vin - JN3MS37A7RW211020, 1994, White, 106k miles, New Jersey car lot, must be stock. 2.) Vin - JN3MS37A2RW210969, 1994, Red (cherry red pearl metallic.. is that stock color?), 94k miles, must be stock.

Here's a question.... Does Nissan North America.. or any car company for that matter.. have to register all the VIN tags for cars produced and sold in the US? If so, do they register them with the NHTSA? Since I've had no luck getting any information out of Nissan regarding number built and sold.. perhaps we could try finding out from the government?? That has to be public information..Any ideas?!?

Well,

There are 45 on autotrader right now. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...&y=13

not all are actually convertibles, and some are going to be repeats from cars.com. Anybody want to help get data and/or call to get more data? Thanks

Thanks Homies for puting this together. It'll be great for determining rarity, popular options, regional dispersal, survivor stats, etc.

I can go for months without checking or being interested in 240 boards but even if I did I'm not that helpful of a guy, so I probably wouldn't help anyway.

But, that makes me all the more thankful that YOU guys are putting out this effort.

Does anyone know production figures for the 'verts? It seems they wouldn't be that hard to find with them being state-side conversions and all.

The whole idea of a "vert only" forum blew me away when I first saw it. Sadly, I race motorcycles now and no longer have any other life so I can only devote a small amount of time to the 240 lifestyle.

Thanks again.

We'll be able to analyze vin numbers to help figure out production totals.

As soon as you brutha's get a good sampling of VIN's it'll be apparent if they were shipped in consecutive batches or one at a time to the conversion facility. You'll also find a highest and lowest for each year.

My 92 with a 0064x may be near the first made, or in the first 650.

Is there a digit in the VIN that denotes 'vert or are they just coupes?

Have any of you soljah's scoured the Covertible Only Service Manual Supplement? There's a lot of great info in there.

I doubt if they made more than 2 - 5,000 per year, I think closer to the 2.

The fact that all you pimps see so many is more of a reflection of the type of car, summer only/specialty/stored/well maintained/not necessarily sporty enough to pound, than how many were really built.

The survivor rate for our cars is WAY above the coupe or just about any Japanese car of that time. Even the far more expensive Supra's and 300's took a lot more abuse and so didn't statistically survive as well.

Do you really have an 'X' for a last digit in the VIN??? that's weird. Can you take a photo of the sticker on the driver door opening? I'd love to see that.

OK. I have put in all the ones that you have posted at car dealerships if they have a VIN attached.

If they don't have a VIN attached, I haven't put them in, because unlike the NICO member screennames, there is no info tying to the vehicle, thus no way to make sure we aren't duplicating them in the system.

Lots of good things going on.

You can email the VIN if you don't want to post it on the internet. It will not be published information. Only AZhitman, Eikon, and myself will have access to the file.

Hit me up via email if you have further questions or concerns.

Thanks,Donald

Keep in mind that VIN info, in and of itself, isn't terribly useful for any "untoward" purposes.

However, I can assure you that this information will be maintained in a responsible and safe manner.

Keep the posts coming guys. We now have over 115 verts in the registry. Of these, about 35 have the VIN included in information. Also send emails to anyone you know with a Vert, to get them here.

We have a great start going.

Thanks Donald

We have now passed 160 entries.

I'm excited about the progress. I could use help however. If anyone wants to contact the DMV in their own states to ask if Registry information may be obtained.

Go for it!

We can actually submit a few - Maybe one for NICOclub.com, one for 240sxConvertible.com, etc...

Thanks man - Good thinking!

If you'll remind me in a couple weeks or so, I'll contact my local DMV and see if that info is available.

I'm gonna be out of commission April 10-18 (roughly), so sometime after that I can go full-bore on it.

I have another idea:

If someone could do some searches on car-part.com for a convertible-specific part (like a top motor or frame), and find any yards nationwide that have a vert, then we can do the following:

We can call the yard and ask about the part. We can also ask about the VIN of the donor car, to make sure the part will work on our vert.

Anyone wanna give this a shot?

Hey we got production totals! That's awesome.

Nice work!!!

8320 'verts built... Now is that US or NA total... guessing North America total? since they are the same in US and Canada, and we got a total from ASC for there work... So, we got maybe 7000 in the US and 1300 in Canada (just a guess). So that's like 140 per state?.... though I'm guessing that's heavily skewed toward Cali, AZ, FL, and other southern states.

on a side note... I'm working on some info on what might be about the most pristine 'vert left in the country... unless it's a typo, the car should have under 15,000 miles on it. Waiting for the guy to get back from a business trip to get more info.
