To match your patch to the textured wall, sand it down as it is right now to match the wall, then make the mud a little extra wet and slap it on there. While its still wet, use a sponge preferably or a rag to pat down the wet mud to give it that texture look. That's how we match patches on block walls at work, it may not be perfect but it will be better than a smooth surface.

the pink **** will dry white, but it will be a flat white, not glossy like the wall is. you should have cut that section out like was mentioned earlier, but since time/noise was of the essence, it's ok. just do what crunkrich said with the mud. next thing you are going to have to do is find as close a match to the rest of the paint as possible. hopefully it's in a poorly lit area, otherwise teh difference in paint will be really noticeable. high gloss paint shows a lot more imperfections as opposed to matte or eggshell finishes.

edit: i just went back and looked at the original pics, permanently relocate that lamp when you are done.

I bought some textured spray ****. I'll try both and compare. Thanks for the tips peeps.

LOL. I see where you are coming from but I have a really high patience for ignorance, even stupidity. I work in customer service and the people I deal with daily are way more irritating than anything she can throw at me. It was just a compound effect of a lot of things. But that is food for thought.
