I pulled my lower wiring harness to cut a problem with a cut/melted wire. When I pulled it I noticed a black and brown wiring hanging out that I couldnt find a connection to.

The black wire is spliced and was barely poking out the harnes sleeving. The brown was hanging beside the oil pressure sensor and is just as long as the oil pressure sensor. Both these wires were in the same sleeving as the oilpressure sensor wire.

Can anyone identify these wires? Any of you guys in the middle of swaps check your harness and see if you can locate these wires?

Heres some pics:

Crappy pic showing the length of the brown wire before I took off the sleeving and found the black.

close up showing the color of the black and brown wire.

So convenient of you to type that you didnt bother to read anything you wrote, as he he states that the wire is a oil pressure switch.. Sigh. Thats why you should read. I've seen the brown wire on the body harness (our stock 240sx body harness is a little different than others like a ca18det/ never checked an sr) and I believe its the plug thats near the fuse box for the body harness (where the air intake is at) has that brown wire. Im not sure what its for but If I had to guess, it would be for the sender for the headlights (remember the ghetto way to have sleepy eyes is to cut the brown wire. Hope that helps.

there is more than just one brown wire under the hood of a 240, and its in the wrong place to have anything to do with the headlights or air intake

Otterman, Ive got that wire too, almost 2 years and its not plugged in to anything, I also have some odd 2 wire plug on that harness that doesnt go to anywhere, who did your wiring, you could possibly call them and ask them if they know what its for.

I never said/typed that it was the only brown wire. Please look at a diagram and look at the wiring on the main harness, body harness, and engine harness before making remarks. And btw this is for his s13 not s14 so hopefully you didnt confuse that.
