Your only the second person I know of that knows about Kyuss. I think the guitarist from Kyuss started queens of the stone age. You've listened to catamaran right?

[QUOTE=BadMojo]

I've got a good Jazz collection, but virtually no blues. That's definitely a big hole in my music collection.

[QUOTE]

If you've ever listened to a blues song, you've listened to work that owes a nod of the hat to Mr. Willie Dixon. An amazing singer/song-writer, this man kept churning out classic after classic. The Chess box set is a must for anyone serious about the blues.

(seems a lil' strange to have an artist smiling on a blues cover)

Right now, these albums are spinning in my CD player:

1. Sonic Nurse- Sonic Youth2. Blue Cathedral- Comets on Fire 3. Blueberry Boat- The Fiery Furnaces (not for everyone, but it's an amazing album that gets better after each listen)4. Secret Machines- Now Here is Nowhere5. The Man Who- Travis6. Dummy- Portishead7. Finally We Are No One- Mum (sorta aross between Sigur Ros and Radiohead)8. RealGone- Tom Waits

I'm also listening to some random songs by Mazzy Star ("Flowers in December" and "Fade into You" are beautiful tracks) and Broken Social Scene (try "Guilty Cubicles" and "Shampoo Suicide" - there's a few riffs at the end that scream Spaghetti Western!).

You asked for new/different stuff to listen to. I went to Indo this year and got introduced to these bands:

1. Beautiful Girls = Aussie Version of Jack Johnson type music 2. John Butler Trio: Hot slide guitarist. I highly recommend this band.

Ack!!! Please don't compare them to Rush!! Coheed and Cambria are awesome. If you like them check out The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Crematorium. VERY cool stuff. A little abstract, but awesome. Try checking out the new The Roots album The Tipping Point. It's quite good. You can never go wrong with some good ol' metal. Personal favorites:In Flames - The Jester Race"]Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin "]Fear Factory - Obsolete"]Killswitch Engage - Killswitch Engage"]Shadows Fall - The Art of Balance"]Chimaira - The Impossibility of Reason"]Hatebreed - Perseverance"]Slayer - South of HeavenI could keep going on.... but check 'em out.

woah woah thug, what's wrong with Rush?

they're one of the original prog rock bands...

I'm just saying it as a comparision of voices however.

s13sr20chris Yeah they kick royal ***. I've seen Arch Enemy in concert twice.... absolutely sick. Can you believe the singer is a girl? A very attractive, petite, blonde, swedish one at that...and I got to hug her! And I don't bring myself to buying either of the albums myself if you know what I mean *ahem*.

Mr1derAnd it's not that I dislike Rush... it's just that everyone, and I do mean everyone compares them to Rush.... and they don't even like Rush. It's just the irony of it, and the fact that I hear that all the time. Hey everyone loves "Tom Sawyer" right?

I prefer Limelight personally...

it's not the bands I'm comparing though, just the voices....

Seems a lot of people think the guy is a girl before actually seeing him sing too though...

crap, I need to listen to Limelight now...

i agree that the lead singer from coheed and cambria sounds like geddy lee most of the time. however he has some serious vocal versatility and can sound very different at times. he has some serious talent.
