I barfed a little when I read that. No just kidding, my buddy has one.. lol

Got the tranny back on the KA in the acura. Big brake kit on the front, stainless lines all around, pressed in new trailing arm bushings on both sides, new BMC and radiator hose. Im waiting on F'n brake pads, because the dude wants special pads for the front. So unless I pull the guys car out without pads on the front. (Which I am probably going to do..) It will be stuck in my shop until Friday.

Sorry I have been absent from here. I have just gotten sidetracked with other hobbies and a heavy dose of work.
It is still together, but honestly I have yet to see a full boost run. I haven't really gotten it 100% done. It runs and drives, but there are still a number of little things I need to complete before I feel competent doing some serious data logging runs.

I need to finish the fab on the intake manifold I built, then re do the vacuum system. I was not happy with the vacuum manifold and all the push to connect lines I had run. It was just too complicated to be able to diagnose leaks. I have a much simpler idea in mind now. (the new manifold will simplify things as well) After that's done, I will run it a few times and then probably take it to the local tuning shop and get some advice on how I should proceed with the first pulls.

After the history with this motor(s) I find myself really hesitant to drive it. Having it together means a great deal to me, and I am in no hurry to repeat the process of building it and also to have the emotional let down of it going grenade on me. I don't really know what I am going to do. It will probably include finding a highly recommended tuner in my area to do the final checks and tuning.

Edit: Is it sad I have already started looking at LS1 swaps? It almost feels like admitting defeat before I have even lost..

Its not really admitting defeat considering the ls is better than the ka in every aspect....

I disagree with that. But it certainly has its upsides.

Yeah? In what way is the KA better than the LSx?

One of the main ones for me is hearing my turbo spool up when I stomp the skinny pedal. The v8 rumble honestly does nothing for me. Another is opening the hood to see a big shiny turbocharger staring back at you. Going KA-t is an art form, and with that I feel deserves much more respect than a drop in bolt on motor.

So I built a diamond plate box for the Optima in the trunk yesterday evening. Ordered a CK flex loc tig torch so I can complete the intake manifold. (Couldnt get my old torch between the runners) and am now looking into Bypass FPR's for my dual feed rail i built. I need a dual output single input bypass standalone type regulator. Just trying to either find a used one, or one that isnt going to break me. not my best aluminum welds by far, but it'll work. Got rusty.

I was holding off on installing my new IACV for when I go to install this intake. But when I pulled it out of the barn to start working on it again I was having some pretty bad idle issues. Installed the new valve and the majority of my problems went away. I still have a stalling issue when it gets above 4k and I let off the gas completely. I think that is caused by a vacuum leak. (Main reason I am trying to get away from the stock intake manifold. I am also considering changing the inner cooler mounting up a bit to lose some of the excess IC piping.

Fixed a few bugs I have had recently and its running pretty well. Was running it last night and all of the sudden it just quit right in my driveway and I noticed I had lost all fuel pressure. Upon taking the fuel pump out (after replacing the fpr) I noticed that Nate had used non submersible fuel line when he installed the walbro. What was left of the line was like bubble gum.

So I plugged my consult in this evening and realized I am getting no signal from the stock 02 sensor. I don't really have a clue why. I guess I will replace the sensor.

Built a new downpipe, as I did not install a flex in the last one I had built. Turned out pretty well, the grade of stainless I used doesn't really like to be welded.(was told after I had bought)Image

Do you usually see O2 activity with the consult?
Just curious, as I noticed that I don't see any
activity with my tune either. But, after talking
to Martin at RS Enthalpy, I found out I shouldn't
see any activity because the stock O2 no longer
reports directly to the ECM.

After banging my head against the wall for 8 hours the other day trying to get a sensor output on consult I emailed Martin. And he explained to me, because he does not use the KA ROM (instead he uses bluebird ROM) the 02 sensor output for consult is in a different area and consult does not know where to find it. Thus leaving the input 0'd out while the ecu is in fact getting a signal.

I Thought me and WD were the only posters in this forum anymore. :dblthumb:
