Im with black just about 100% on everything he said.

Seeing how i ALSO work for nissan as a tech. I know this is the LAST place i would ever ever ever bring my 240 too.

Everyone here knows late model cars and problems. And only a few guys MIGHT remember some s*** about my car only because they have been here for 20-30 years.

Labor rate is extremely expensive and most of the time we dont rebuild motors, we just replace them with brand new ones ($$$ as stated by black)

You would be better off just buying a used KA locally and just swaping it in. Its an exact replacement so shouldnt be very hard with little knowledge.

Replacing the KA with something else also risks reliability ( u have said it enough that its your DD)

To be honest. You are better off buying a different car thats not f***ed and taking ur time with this. Or just sell it

if the car is more than 10 years old

they don't know jack about it

you might get lucky and get an guy who has a hobby for it thats a tech; but your going to pay a premium for it.

blacksrjdm might sound like a d!ck but he's right; either find some friends you trust to help you rebuild it; but from what you describe it be far better to start with a new KA

or SR

or anything

If you think a nissan dealership is going to tell you that they dont have anyone that works on 240's u have to be more dumb than i thought. Everyone customer to any dealership is one thing $$$$$$.

Well, im done helping you. Everyone has tried to get you advice or help you with a better way around the situation but you just blow them off and do what you want anyways.

Have fun getting raped in the a**. I would go buy some lube so its not too rough

not helping,, your not reading. so lets hold your hand through this.

you can have a mechanic source and install an engine. or you can source an engine and have the mechanic install.or source an engine bring it to a machinist to be rebuild and send it to a mechanic to be installed.

you have chosen to have nissan source and install the engine. a move that at least 5 people told you your an idiot for doing.

good luck and bring a** lube.

everyones trying to tell you but you wont listen... just swap another KA24DE in, it will cost a lot less and take less time to put in... its literally plug n play...

rebuilding is good if you have time, money, and the knowledge on how to do it... its going to cost you more than you think to do a rebuild because you wont be able to rebuild it to stock... if your valve broke into the cylinder while running you probably have dented piston and scored cylinder, and to fix that youll have to bore the cylinder and if you bore one you must bore all and get 4 new pistons...

in conclusion it will cost significantly less to buy a new KA and swap it in

Threads like this are the reason I loooove 240 Gen! Hilarious! OP, you are not going to have a good experience at the deallership. Just prepare yourself for that.

Honestly, for the money you're about to spend there for stock performance you could buy 2 crate KA's with forged internals.

http://www.handcraftedracing.com/KA24DEcrate.html

My advice, don't spnd money on that KA. Buy a cheap/beater car with the money & then take your time fixing your car right.

I just had to swap in a replacement engine for a Ka 24e(sohc) . I priced a rebuilt engine from Discount and it was $2100. If you really want the warantee that is one way to go(has a one year warranty), Rebuilding yourself will take a awhile and if the cars a DD and you really need to get it going quickly..I'd buy a used engine from someone on Craigs( I found one for my daughters car that way). Hers is up and running and doing fine .with just two days of work into the swap. Mine just blew a head gasket and I've decided to do a full rebuild with head rebuild and engine boring by a shop. My total will be about $600 for the complete rebuild...new seals and everything ...If fast is the objective go for a used one..Most can be had for $200 and then you just have the rental of the lift($100) and maybe new hoses ,oil, filter, and perhaps plugs.

Dude for the 6,000 you are going to spend for OEM rebuild form Nissan you can buy a RB26dett and throw it in your 240. Just buy a used KA in good condtion and throw it in. Either swap the motors yourself or have the motor shipped to a good shop and have them swap it. Either way you don;t have to spend 6,000 dollars, for a rebuild. Look at the vehicles for sale in the classifieds, you can find nice KA and SR 240's for sale for 5,000. You coulkd buy a whole other car for the money you are going to be giving Nissan for a OEM factory rebuild.

Cmon man use your head.

I think we would all be better off if the OP's mother would have used her head in the first place and just swallowed him to begin with.
