Im attempting a brake job on my 93 Silvia. The right side went very smooth but when I went to the left side, thats when the problems started. For some reason the piston will not twist in. I got it to come all the way out, it just wont go back in.....at all!! A buddy of mine said the caliper is shot.? Anybody have some experience with this?

If the piston wont retract, then the caliper should be replaced. It may be jammed, or more likely, hyper extended. Its a common problem with older calipers with integrated emergency brakes.

Yeah, the e-brake is down. I could twist the other side with my hand, but not the left side. I hope I dont need to replace it. Ill try some more tomorrow

Did you use a brake piston tool?

Nope. Would an auto parts store have one or is that a special order tool?

Once you pop out the brake piston you might as well replace the whole thing because you are going to need a new seal and everything (brake caliper rebuild kit).

theres an awesome one with interchangeable ends and a big plate and threaded rod to help compress the piston as well

Yeah thats the tool. I bought it and it twistd in just fine. So then I moved on to the front brakes.......Ive got TT300zx front brakes on it. I pressed in 3 pistons and for some f'ing reason, the last one wont go in. Anybody wanna buy a Silvia??Nah, just kidding. I did'nt have all my tools with me so tomorrow im going to take a c-clamp and try my luck with that.

I opened up the bleeder vavle hoping it would relieve pressure but it did'nt work. Should I take the cap off the master cylinder then press it in??
